In a post on Devolver Digital’s website today, the company revealed that it has acquired Croatian developer Croteam after nearly a decade of a fruitful partnership. First teaming up together to release Serious Sam 3 back in 2011, pretty much every release since from the indie dev has been under the Devolver banner. Now, every title moving forward from the house of Sam will bear the same branding. “Devolver has acquired Croteam…or maybe Croteam has acquired Devolver…who could really know at this point in the relationship,” reads the announcement....

There is still no release date in sight for Diablo 4, but Blizzard has revealed a handful of tantalizing details about the game in-progress, including the first three classes. When the topics of a multiplayer shooter, especially one as popular as Battlefield 3 (which just recently scored big at the BAFTAs), and a subscription service are brought up within the same sentence it’s enough to make an entire fan base cringe. Though the idea of a pay-as-you-play service was thrown around back before the release of the next Call of Duty, that plan never came to fruition, but that doesn’t mean the same can be said for Battlefield 3....

Battlefield Premium and the multiple DLC packs it adds to Battlefield 3 are still fresh in the minds of players, so when Electronic Arts attempted to boost the appeal of Medal of Honor: Warfighter earlier this month by confirming Battlefield 4 via Warfighter pre-order incentives, there was understandably some concern for BF3’s long-term future. According to DICE, Electronic Arts and their official Battlefield blog, fans need not fret. They promise to continue supporting Battlefield 3 all throughout this year and next, and beyond the release of its successor....

Nov. 20th update: The original story stated that EA CEO Andrew Wilson spoke with Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger on the phone. Iger was not part of this phone call and Wilson spoke to Disney executive Jimmy Pitaro instead. The article has been updated to reflect this. EA has announced that it is temporarily removing all microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront 2 following significant backlash against the game’s loot boxes. However, while some thought that EA’s decision was a direct response to the fan fury, it now seems that it was Disney who made the final call....

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut was announced in December 2020, and developer ZA/UM confirmed at the time that this version of the surprise hit isometric RPG would be upgraded with new content and release for PC and select consoles in March 2021. One of the biggest upgrades to come to The Final Cut is the addition of full voice-acting for all characters in the game, a major feat considering the sheer amount of unique NPCs in the game....

Disenchantment’s third season has gotten more fans interested in this fantasy series than ever before. Valve Corporation isn’t wasting any time in releasing a battle pass for their latest early access game, Dota Underlords. The game is Valve’s take on the wildly popular emerging autobattler genre, which itself originated as user-created content in Valve’s own Dota 2. For those unfamiliar with autobattlers, they are a multiplayer competitive style of game that combines drafting heroes similar to the ones found in MOBAs like Dota 2 or League of Legends with light resource management and positioning mechanics....

Fighting game fans have understandably been excited for the forthcoming release of Dragon Ball FighterZ ever since the video game developer Arc System Works and publisher Bandai Namco unveiled the first piece of gameplay footage at E3 2017. Now, they have even more reason to anticipate the title’s release, as the aforementioned companies have confirmed the addition of the characters Krillin and Piccolo to the game’s roster. Arc System Works and Bandai Namco revealed as much in the latest issue of V-Jump Magazine, as the developer and publisher announced Krillin and Piccolo’s inclusion in Dragon Ball FighterZ while also revealing further details....

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has done a good job at adapting Goku’s various adventures through Dragon Ball Z. However, one of Goku’s more recent adventures that involve Golden Frieza will soon be coming to the game via DLC. While this form did appear in Dragon Ball: Super, both Golden Frieza and Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue originally appeared in the 2015 movie, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. It serves as a sequel to the 2013 movie, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods....

Capcom producer Minae Matsukawa suggests that a full-fledged sequel to 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma requires fan feedback and support for the upcoming PC version of the game. Back in 2012, Capcom introduced a brand new IP to the world in the form of Dragon’s Dogma. A western-style RPG developed by a Japanese development team, Dragon’s Dogma was unique in a number of ways, and managed to be a modest success for the company....

Since the PS2, Sony has largely stuck to a black color scheme for its PlayStation consoles. However, the upcoming PlayStation 5 is a big departure from the norm, with both the standard system and the all-digital version going with a bright white color scheme. But images making the rounds online seem to suggest that there will be a black color variant for the DualSense controller, and that in turn may hint at a black PS5 being in the works as well....

Fans have discovered something quite intriguing regarding the creepy trailer music in the sequel for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Nintendo’s final E3 announcement was unexpected and became one of the biggest talking points of the whole show. Breath of the Wild’s sequel is now in development. This news was surprising because Nintendo typically makes standalone 3D Zelda games with new versions of Link and Zelda. A multitude of game companies now offer subscription services that offer a catalog of games for free, beyond the monthly subscription fee. EA Play is just one of those services, and it’s finally ready to make its move to Steam. Steam is one of the most-used gaming platforms for PC out there, with Origin, EA’s own game platform, often serving as direct competition.
