In the months leading up to Fallout 76’s launch, Bethesda seemed confident in the experimental project, and some fans were cautiously optimistic as a result. However, Fallout 76’s launch was a disaster, with the game suffering from a slew of technical problems and lambasted by critics for a wide variety of issues. A series of PR guffaws on Bethesda’s part only worsened Fallout 76’s reputation, and now, nearly five months since the game’s launch, and it’s still finding ways to upset fans....

Without a doubt, one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time is the post-apocalyptic RPG series, Fallout, as there are plenty of fans the world over who are intimately familiar with the titles’ gameplay, lore, and annihilated environments. Xbox Design Lab is back up and running, allowing gamers to create and customise their own Xbox controllers. As you’d expect from the internet, there are some pretty creative controllers out there. One of the surprise announcements to come from Microsoft’s E3 slate was the re-introduction of Xbox Design Lab. This website allowed players to engrave and customise their own controllers but was shut down last October presumably to make way for Xbox Series S and X designs....

Like what seems to happen every year, many of Blizzard’s big announcements for BlizzCon 2021 were leaked online prior to the show. This included a Diablo 2 remake, which has now been officially announced. As revealed during BlizzCon 2021, Blizzard is bringing back the critically-acclaimed action RPG in the form of Diablo 2: Resurrected, which will be available for PC and consoles later this year. Blizzard didn’t specify which consoles in the Diablo 2: Resurrected announcement trailer, but the official website lists PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X....

Valve announced the return of The International last month after taking a year-long sabbatical due to the pandemic. Along with raising over $40 million in prize pool cash (the most of any esports tournament, ever), Valve confirmed the location of the event would be Stockholm, Sweden. Now it’s looking like Sweden might not want The International after all. Valve recently posted an update on how the event is shaping up, and it seems that it’s hit a bit of a snag with the Swedish government....

Call of Duty: Warzone is perhaps the greatest battle royale game in the world today. It has all the fast action of Apex Legends with an even wider assortment of weapons than PUBG. There are so many strategies and counter-strategies to employ in Warzone that no two games ever play out the same way....

An unannounced change to Dungeons & Dragons rules appears to have nerfed a favorite spell tactic. A player shared their recent purchase of Xanathar’s Guide to Everything to Reddit, noting that the Healing Spirit spell has been edited to limit repeated use. Other players took this claim to the Lead Rules Designer of D&D 5th Edition, who confirmed that the nerf is real. This means no more Healing Spirit conga lines....

In Dungeons and Dragons, a lot of pressure falls on the Dungeon Master to make sure things go smoothly and that everyone is having fun. As a Dungeon Master, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by the great number of factions, books, rules, enemies, players, and all of their abilities, making coming up with a well-crafted story extremely difficult. This is compounded by the fact that life often makes it difficult to prepare for a session and since most Dungeon Masters are not professional story-writers, a lot of improvisation tends to happen at the gaming table....

Last year’s WWE 2K15 was a current-gen disappointment. Suffering from the same problems as many sports titles do in the transition to new consoles, 2K15 on PS4 and Xbox One was a watered down version of the last-gen game, and was even pushed back from its scheduled release date during development. Since that time, developers Visual Concepts and Yuke’s have had more time to hone their craft on the new consoles, and they hope to deliver a much more polished pro wrestling experience this October on consoles with WWE 2K16....

E3 2019 is coming to a close, long live E3 2020. Technically, E3 2019 doesn’t end until 6:00 pm PT later today, meaning there’s still plenty of show floor demos and behind-closed-doors interviews going on at the event. However, as is traditional at E3, the ESA has posted a banner at the exit to the LA Convention Center, both saying goodbye to attendees as they’re departing and confirming details about next year’s E3....

The beautiful game won’t be played together between platforms, as EA has confirmed there will be no cross-play between generations in FIFA 21. When asked about this requested feature, EA’s FIFA Direct Twitter account said that there will be no cross-play in the game, but you can transfer your FUT progression from the PS4 to the PS5 (same with Xbox One and Xbox Series X). Cross-play might not be completely off the table yet though because currently on FIFA 21’s Q&A page, it says that EA is “continuing to investigate its integration and will share updates when we have them....

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is the voxel spin-off of the popular Japanese series, and it just received its second gameplay trailer which focused on abilities and specials. The shooter will release on December 24 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan, with a western release to follow in early 2021. While the game is more bug hell than bullet hell, D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot have featured the game’s fast pace and arsenal of abilities on offer in the new trailer, to obliterate the overgrown creatures....
