In the Fallout series, the games have ending slides to explain what happened to the game’s world. The endings – except in Fallout 4 – are narrated by a familiar voice and act as an epilogue. Choices made by the player can cause different outcomes to the game, such as a faction dying off or a certain character completing a goal. Companions are also given special endings, letting players know what occurs after the game finishes....
Towards the end of May, Ubisoft announced the latest (and perhaps most controversial) entry in the Far Cry series, Far Cry 5. The initial announcement gave few details; the game takes place in fictional Hope County, Montana, and the enemies are an extremist religious cult. At Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, more footage was revealed, highlighting several gameplay elements. Far Cry 5 features the traditional Far Cry gameplay seen in the previous numbered entries while emphasizing taking the adventure with others (AI or human)....
THQ Nordic has announced that it will be unleashing Destroy All Humans! upon the world on July 28, 2020. Coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia, this remake/reboot looks to update the beloved cult-classic for the modern era with a slew of new graphical effects and gameplay systems. During the pre-show for Gamescom 2020’s Opening Night Live, a new Dirt 5 trailer debuted. While the trailer ends with a teaser for some kind of vampire car, it primarily focuses on Dirt 5’s Playgrounds feature: A creation tool that lets players design their own high-octane arenas fit for monster truck rallies, and then share them with the world. These arenas will be able to facilitate three different challenge types at launch, and there’s a chance even more modes and mechanics will become available....

Leaked images appear to show a black alternative to the PS5’s DualSense controller, as well as its dimensions. PlayStation tends to take an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to its video game design. Its last three consoles have all been black boxes, and the cases in which the games for those black boxes are sold in are blue boxes. Bethesda recently confirmed that this year’s bombastic first-person shooter Doom Eternal will not be getting a physical release on the Nintendo Switch. While a release date hasn’t been confirmed as of this writing, Doom Eternal will eventually release on Nintendo’s platform, but it will be digital-only. The episode opens by flashing back to Jane/Kay’s childhood where her abusive father would force her into the well to spend the night....

There’s a new Dungeons & Dragons setting in the multiverse, and it’s brought some epic monsters to the game. Literally. Mythic Odysseys of Theros is the latest sourcebook for D&D, bringing the adventure to a land based on Greek Mythology. Keeping with that theme, players can fight foes with powers straight from the wildest tales. This is represented in-game as a new mechanic called Mythic Monsters. Abilities like shedding skin to reveal a healthy new form add a new layer of challenge and danger to these epic boss monsters....
Early last evening, a big bit of industry news hit the internet, with casual gaming mogul PopCap Games right in the center. The company behind Bejeweled, Plants vs. Zombies, Bookworm, and other high-grossing titles, was in the process of being acquired by an (at the time) unknown buyer. Today we find out that Electronic Arts is behind the purchase, and the number that they paying is staggering: $1 billion+. Destiny 2’s newest raid, Last Wish, is almost out, releasing on Friday, September 14 at 10 a.m. PDT. And those players who can conquer the raid’s challenges early on will be rewarded with a small collection of rewards, ranging from in-game to real life ones.
