Originally announced at E3 in 2018, Dying Light 2 has seemingly all but disappeared. The lack of news has led to multiple outlets commenting on a possible development hell that has similarly surrounded anticipated titles such as Dead Island 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. Now, it appears that Techland is at least willing to toss impatient gamers a bone. The mystery of Dying Light 2 began when a Polish outlet (PolskiGamedev) stated that they had interviewed multiple developers within Techland....

The Game Critics Awards announces its winners for the best games of E3 2016, which included high profile titles like Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, and The Legend of Zelda. The judges’ votes are in and the E3 2016 Awards have finally been announced. While it might not have been the flashiest of E3s in terms of high profile reveals and mind-blowing surprises, there were still plenty of exciting games on the show floor, and many of them were recognized for their achievement....

Even though there was no mention of the Xbox Series X on last week’s demo, Epic boss Tim Sweeney says that Unreal 5 will still look great on Microsoft’s new console. Last week, Epic released a short technology demonstration that showcased the upcoming Unreal Engine 5 running on the PlayStation 5. Called Lumen in the land of Nanite, the tech demo showed us that next-gen gaming will look just as good as motion picture computer graphics does today, only you’ll be in control of the characters....

The Gamestop stock peaking at several times its initial value may have been something of a phenomenon, but it hasn’t ended yet. Speaking during a congressional hearing, Keith Gill, one of the prominent Reddit investors, said even he didn’t understand how last month’s events unfolded. Keith Gill (a.k.a. RoaringKitty and DFV) reportedly played a big role along with the r/wallstreetbets subreddit in the massive spike in GameStop’s stock prices, making Gill a multimillionaire overnight....

Microsoft has recently completed its acquisition of ZeniMax Media, which included Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda Softworks, for the uninitiated, is the publishing arm of Bethesda, with a separate development team called Bethesda Game Studios responsible for the company’s various critically-acclaimed games over the years. Since Bethesda Game Studios was established in 2002, the studio has put out a number of high profile games. These include some industry-leading titles that have set the bar for their genres, like the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, as well as some smaller-scale releases that even the most hardcore Bethesda fans may be unaware of....

Fall Guys is adding the ability for players to randomize their beans’ skins in season two which launches later this week. Veteran game designer Warren Spector says that franchises such as Uncharted and Telltale’s The Walking Dead have more in common with movies than video games. There is an ever-growing trend for video games to become a more cinematic experience, and to deliver compelling stories akin to the world of film or television. For one of the industry’s old guard, however, some developers are going about this entirely the wrong way. Warren Spector, the iconic designer behind the likes of Deus Ex, has stated that some recent games such as Telltale’s The Walking Dead have shied away from the “collaborative storytelling” that makes video games so unique as a medium....

Earlier this month, Blizzard confirmed some unfortunate, but otherwise to-be-expected, news. Neither Diablo 4 nor Overwatch 2 are set to release in 2021, and while many more seemed to focus in on Overwatch 2, a lot of fans were seemingly disappointed by this confirmation. Overwatch 2 itself may have experienced some type of delay, but being upset over Diablo 4 not releasing this year seems to stem from one important factor: unmanaged expectations....

To be fair, the publisher revealed a ton of information about their upcoming new console, but still, they only showed off a handful of games. Dignitas have officially announced their entry into the North American competitive VALORANT scene with the signing of four members formally from the orgless team Homeless. Despite not yet signing a fifth member, Dignitas is set to compete in Pop Flash, the upcoming Ignition Series Event, in just under a week. Before being signed to Dignitas, Homeless played just 2 tournaments together as a squad. As one of the few remaining top tier orgless teams, Homeless picked up a 5th-6th placement in the Pittsburgh Knights Invitational Gauntlet Series as well as a 3rd-4th in the PAX Arena Invitational....

Update 1.3 Watery Water has splashed down in Ylands, the free-to-play creativity platform developed by Bohemia Interactive (Arma 3, DayZ). Flooding the update is the ability for players to now explore an entire sea world, and new terraforming editing tools allow players to carve out swaths of land, and use the new water volume to create puddles, ponds, or even lakes.
