It has been over half a decade since Xbox Live for the original Xbox platform was discontinued. On April 15, 2015, Microsoft pulled the plug, limiting officially multiplayer on the original Xbox to local networks. However, third-party multiplayer options remained a possibility. Now one group is hoping to provide a replacement server for the Xbox’s online servers called Insignia. This privately developed service is tentatively planned to launch in late 2020....

From Software’s Dark Souls has the reputation of being one the most brutal games this generation, but alas, its unforgiving nature is something that PC gamers were never able to experience. Dark Souls fans however, are looking to change that as many are signing a petition to convince Namco to bring the game over to the PC. A representative from Namco responded to a user on their official forums, essentially claiming that a PC port of the Action-RPG is possible, the only thing standing in their way is the level of demand for it....

Disney has made its submissions for this year’s Emmy awards, and the categories it has picked for its MCU shows hint at which ones will be getting follow-up seasons. After a number of delays to its movies, Disney was finally able to get the MCU back up and running via its TV shows at the turn of the year. Movie theaters not needed. Bethesda officially announces a multiplayer update for the id Software-developed DOOM, bringing about weapon rebalances, shorter wait time in between matches, and more. Shortly following id Software’s promise to bring about multiplayer improvements for DOOM, the gory first-person shooter’s publisher Bethesda has announced that a brand new update has dropped for the game’s multiplayer mode today, June 10, bringing about several changes. According to a community blog post from the publisher, the DOOM update consists of balance changes to the Chaingun, Rocket Launcher, and Combat Shotgun, while also reducing the wait time in between matches to 60 seconds....

Earlier today, Dungeons & Dragons released a whole set of different feats for playtesting, ranging from martial-combat and spellcasting-oriented to one feat that allows characters to craft an especially tasty meal. The feats are part of the latest release of Dungeons & Dragons’ Unearthed Arcana. Every month or so, Wizards of the Coast will release a new issue of Unearthed Arcana for players to test out in their own games at home; it’s unofficial content, but usable nonetheless....

Microsoft and Facebook have recently been criticizing Apple’s App Store policies. Microsoft has been trying to make “Project xCloud” available to more people by trying to get it to be downloadable on Apple’s App Store. Unfortunately for Microsoft, their recent attempt at putting it in the App Store has proven difficult due to the strict policies that Apple has put for 3rd party developers. The Silent Hill hype train is riding full steam ahead this year, as fans anticipate a new addition to the franchise. Silent Hill 2 also has an anniversary coming in September during which a group of fans and filmmakers are planning to release a short. Co-directors Leigh Thorne and Ruben Abreu contacted Bloody Disgusting to confirm that the filming of their fan short, Silent Hill: Road of Guilt, had wrapped. The team has been filming for the last seven months and they’re planning to debut the feature in September - in time for Silent Hill 2’s 20th anniversary....
