Some fans thought this day would never come but it’s finally happening: Ewan McGregor is returning to the role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in a Disney+ live-action series set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. That means we’ll meet an older Obi-Wan in exile on Tatooine but not quite the same age as Sir Alec Guinness in A New Hope. And the fact that the show takes place during a largely unexplored period in the Jedi’s life should provide some exciting narrative opportunities for director Deborah Chow and writer Joby Harold....

After confirming the extended cast for The Suicide Squad, the upcoming DC villain team-up reboot, James Gunn tweeted that “#DCFanDome is over, but #TheSuicideSquad lives on… at least until a good amount of them get massacred in August 2021.” So maybe don’t get too attached to any of the characters just yet. Joining Harley Quinn, Rick Flagg and Captain Boomerang on this mission is a veritable who’s who of DC’s C-list villains....

If one thing’s for certain, it’s that the forthcoming Doom reboot is going to be exceptionally violent. After the title’s gameplay reveal trailer showed off new weapons, demons, and brutal melee finishing moves during Bethesda’s first-ever E3 2015 press conference, fans of the seminal first-person shooter responded with resounding applause, for their virtual bloodlust had been properly sated. While Doom is no stranger when it comes to over-the-top savagery, fans of the game have also come to expect no-frills gunplay and fast-paced movement, as well as unique, hellish environments....

An employee from id Software confirms that DOOM won’t have any framerate limitations for the PC release, though console gamers are still locked in to 60FPS. Even though the open beta for DOOM is already underway, it’s clear that id Software is still striving to make some significant technical advances. The lead rendering programmer at the studio, Tiago Sousa, just put out a Tweet stating that DOOM won’t have any framerate lock on the PC version of the game, meaning gamers with high-end rigs can feel free to push their copy of DOOM to the limit....

We’ve been having great fun with the DualSense Edge controller for PlayStation 5 since it arrived in the Pocket-lint test labs. It’s an excellent first pro controller from Sony, with assignable buttons, four easy to switch-between custom profiles, removable thumbsticks and modules, and a great build. However, we did note in our in-depth review of the DualSense Edge that its battery life was shorter than we’ve found on a standard DualSense....

EA has confirmed making “notable changes” to Anthem’s loot drop rate following complaints from players. Apart from backlash over loot in the game, EA and BioWare have been notified of several other areas of concern, including freezes, unreasonably long loading screens, and even system crashes, among other issues. All of the above are being looked into, according to claims from the developers. And, in a recent update from EA, the loot drop issue has been addressed....

Electronic Arts is under fire yet again due to loot boxes, which have been a controversial topic in the gaming community. While some players have considered them to be gambling, many also argue against this, saying that loot boxes will always give gamers something, even if it’s not the valuable item that they are looking for. In particular, Electronic Arts has been the target of many lawsuits centered around loot box regulation....

It’s been a big year already for Codemasters, which has already seen a number of its racing titles launch including the most recent high profile game, DiRT 5. The offroad racing game has been a hit with critics, pulling in stellar reviews thanks to its impressive visuals, solid controls, and wealth of content available on day 1. Outside of releasing games, Codemasters has also seen a lot of interest in being acquired by other companies thanks in large part to its current successes within the racing sector....

Regardless of which Cyberpunk 2077 edition players purchase, they will receive a number of digital collectibles at no extra charge. Over on its official Twitter account, Cyberpunk 2077 posted a message reminding players about the digital content bonuses, as well as a whole new addition in the form of a digital comic called Cyberpunk 2077: Your Voice. The collectibles are essentially nice little forms of memorabilia that give players extra things to check out and engage with....

Elden Ring fans are still waiting on a release date for the fantasy-action role playing game, and they’ve been busy trying to pass the time until a major announcement arrives from developer FromSoftware. For a short while fans were tuned into a series of Elden Ring leaks which turned out to be fake, all stemming from a leaked gameplay trailer that showed some dragons and a sword-wielding enemy similar to one seen in concept art for the game....

Elite Dangerous is one of the longest-running sci-fi games out there, having started in the late ’80s. With more and more people getting involved in the game (and a broader range of things to do) certain unsavory things are bound to happen. One of those things appears to be a player-created gulag where newbies are trapped and forced to farm resources for more experienced commanders. As part of TheGamer’s Mass Effect week, we learned that former developers would want to make a Mass Effect game that is similar to Elite Dangerous....

There’s something particularly beautiful about having a silent protagonist in a first-person perspective game. Undoubtedly, though, it can be a pretty tricky task to frame an entirely mute protagonist appropriately and naturally into a game’s story. But when it’s done well, it does wonders for a gaming experience. Let’s explore some of those games that stand out because of this trait - focusing mainly on one of the most obvious examples....

Covenants are different groups the player can align themselves with for rewards. Sometimes this takes the form of Co-op gameplay where Chosen Undead join forces across worlds and to take down bosses or complete other objectives. There are nine covenants total and each has their own goals as well as lore and access to many features and pieces of equipment. But covenants are about much more than jolly co-operation. For invasions by those seeking to take for their own gain are all too common....

The first generation of Pokémon games was planned to feature another entry at one point in time, but it’s unclear exactly how far along it was in development before Game Freak scrapped it, as it was never formally announced and we only know of its existence due to a datamine from earlier this year. That planned game was Pokémon Pink, and it could have been a companion game to Pokémon Yellow if it was finished....

Despite leaving Tango Gameworks back in 2019, Ikumi Nakamura never really left the conversation. That’s largely due to her active presence on social media, which led to this adorable conversation about the website OnlyFans, but most of us remember her from her incredibly bubbly performance introducing Ghostwire Tokyo at E3. She left Tango Gameworks shortly after that peppy presentation without providing any explanation as to what happened. Now, thanks to a documentary from Japanese games sites GameSpark and Archipel, we have a better idea off what happened and what she plans to do in the future....

This is a heads up to anyone looking at the two biggest VR games of the holiday season: neither of them is finished, and it definitely looks like you’re going to have to buy the end of the game later on. Jurassic World Aftermath and Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge are the major holiday releases for the Oculus Quest. Galaxy’s Edge is a follow up to ILMxLAB’s Vader Immortal Trilogy, while Jurassic World Aftermath was developed by Onward studio Coatsink....

The New California Republic is best known for trying to bring law to the Mojave Wasteland in Fallout New Vegas. The NCR in the game are in a war against Caesar and his Legion, fighting for control over Hoover Dam. While traveling through the Mojave Wasteland, players are able to visit locations owned by the NCR or once owned by the NCR. By exploring these areas and talking to the characters of the wasteland, the player is able to learn more about the history of the New California Republic....

One fan of Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG overhauls Fallout 4’s existing radio stations by creating a mod that adds loads of historically accurate songs into the game. For those Fallout 4 fans who are tired of hearing the same old songs play over and over on their Pip-Boys, the modder known as “efgh58” has thankfully updated the retro-futuristic title’s catalog of tunes with a fresh mod called Radio Enhanced. Now, instead of the familiar handful of musical compositions playing on an almost constant loop, Fallout 4 fans will be able to listen through a wide variety of 286 different songs that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also historically accurate to the game’s lore and themes....

Famicom Detective Club has been around since the ’80s but hasn’t had much attention until recently. As of today, you can now play both The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind on Nintendo Switch. These Detective Club games have been remade with updated art and voice acting. These mystery adventure games were developed and published by Nintendo in 1988 and 1989. The Missing Heir was released first and the reception was very positive, so a year later, Nintendo published The Girl Who Stands Behind....
