The Pikmin franchise is one of Nintendo’s most unique IPs to date. Which is really saying something, considering that they’ve brought us Splatoon, the adorably charming world of Animal Crossing, unique one-offs (so far) like ARMS and so on. This quirky RTS series sees the player controlling tiny space farer Captain Olimar (or an associate), as he tries to lead a ragtag band of plant like creatures called Pikmin. There are a variety of Pikmin species, denoted by their different colors & appearances, each of which have exclusive skills and a different part to play in achieving the player’s goals....

During the height of the pandemic last year, one game had come out of nowhere to take over Twitch and the wider online gaming landscape. And no I am not referring to Animal Crossing: New Horizons or Among Us, even though both games had also found tremendous success on the streaming platform. Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will be released alongside the PS5 on launch day, and is set to feature a slew of upgrades and additions, including the hotly demanded Vergil. Capcom’s Matt Walker detailed the upcoming launch title in a brief Playstation Blog post earlier today. The message confirmed that Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition (DMC5: SE) will feature new content, and substantial visual and functional improvements, most of which take advantage of the PS5’s next-gen hardware capabilities....

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – for Die Hard fans. It’s a well-known fact that movie adaptations of video games have had a long and unsuccessful history. Another director looking to change that pattern is Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts who has finally given fans an update on his Metal Gear Solid project. While he confirmed that a script has been finalized, he regrettably disclosed that no studio has actually commissioned his adaptation to be made just yet....

This is especially true with E3’s absence this summer, which has proven a crying shame. Nintendo set a precedent a few years back when it decided it would start releasing presentations in the form of online Directs, designed to showcase upcoming projects in efficient, short snippets....

The difference in graphical horsepower between the PS5 and Xbox Series X doesn’t have a significant impact on game development, according to a Dirt 5 developer. Mike Moreton, a lead designer at Codemasters, claims multiplatform releases won’t change much between either console. “From development and gameplay perspectives, it doesn’t really have an impact,” Moreton said in an interview with GamingBolt. “When it comes to tuning, tweaking and optimizations at the end of a game, it might mean slightly less work for one platform....

Since launching in November 2019, Disney’s home streaming Disney+ has gained over 60.5 million global subscribers, reaching their goal to acquire 60-90 million subscribers by 2024. Even assuming Disney set a conservative 5-year goal for the streaming service, hitting the mark more than 4 years ahead of schedule is very impressive. Some of Disney+’s big draws to its service were full seasons of animated shows like Ducktales and Gargoyles, a huge collection of classic movies both animated and their live action remakes, all current Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies and nearly all Star Wars films and TV shows that have ever been....

Doom 2016 shook the FPS landscape by returning to the core roots of what makes shooters fun. Publisher Bethesda and developer id Software confirm its upcoming first-person shooter DOOM runs at 1080p and 60 FPS on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. If there’s one complaint that most fans of developer Double Fine’s work share between each other it’s that not enough gamers are familiar with Double Fine. After delivering tremendously unique and whimsical titles like Psychonauts, the developer has moved into the downloadable space to bring even more unique games, for a lower cost and at a quicker pace.
