2020 has been a dreadful year for new releases. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many highly-anticipated movies are being subjected to various delays; whether that’s due to production complications with the new safety protocols in place or delays determined by projected box office numbers. Nobody wants their movie to be a flop. Although these substitutions won’t completely fill the void that these delays have created, here are some suggestions to ride out the long wait....

Facebook will start adding advertisements to its Oculus Quest headsets within the next few weeks. The adverts will run in three different games, including Blaston by Resolution Games and two more titles, although Facebook is yet to specify what those other two games are. The adverts will not be based on any local data stored in the Oculus Quest headset itself, with a Facebook spokesperson telling The Verge that the adverts will be targeted based on information in your Facebook profile....

Fallout 4: Nuka-World is a hearty expansion to the 2015 RPG, presenting thrilling exploration within a nostalgic fairground aesthetic. Fallout: New Vegas’ strip was expected to meet similar, high standards until various NPCs were cut, but one modder is dedicated to restoring the Strip to its intended glory. The Strip is the epicentre of Las Vegas, home to the hustle and bustle and meant to be one of the hot spots in Bethesda’s New Vegas....

The numbered entries of the Fallout series all display a power soldier dressed in the latest power armor. This modern armor is standard among the higher ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel, one of post-war America’s most well-known factions. When first starting the game, this mysterious militaristic group is enough to take your breath away. Their shiny armor and advanced weaponry were enough to make you jealous and wish you were part of their team....

One truly skilled Fallout 3 player plays through all of the materials for Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic role-playing game and completes it without healing. After beginning the task about eight months ago, the YouTuber known as Many A True Nerd has completed the arduous journey of beating every single scrap of Fallout 3’s base products and its add-ons without stopping to heal once. Yesterday, he uploaded the last hour of footage from what has been the antithesis to a world record speedrun to his YouTube account in order to share the grand accomplishment with the world....

Fallout 76’s journey so far has been pretty rocky. From numerous fiascos surrounding pre-order bonuses to game-breaking exploits and growing fan discontent, Fallout 76 has drawn the ire of many long-time fans of the series. Despite these setbacks, Bethesda has refused to give up on Fallout — just yesterday a brand new range of Fallout miniatures was unveiled. The studio has continuously made efforts to support the game, and while some of the resulting updates have stepped on some toes, it finally seems as if Fallout 76 is in a far better place than it was at launch....

With the Fallout 76 beta set to begin in a few weeks, promotions for the game are expected to ramp up. However, an unexpected promotion last night placed the series favorite Vault Boy on the ice with the NHL team, the Washington Capitals. Last night’s game, which was against the Boston Bruins, was a wild one for sure, as the Capitals started their title defense strong with a 7-0 win. It’s also worth mentioning that the Washington Capitals are reportedly Bethesda’s favorite hockey team as well....

It’s been a long time since the first Super Smash Bros. game debuted on the Nintendo 64. One creative fan decided to pay tribute to the fighting series in another popular Nintendo classic, Animal Crossing. YouTuber Great-Bit Arcade remade the original opening, using the new Super Mario items released in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, putting their impressive editing skills to work. A lot of time and energy went into trying to recreate the characters featured in the original Smash Bros....

Ubisoft’s forthcoming action-adventure release with Far Cry Primal shows fans of the series never-before-seen gameplay footage at this year’s Game Awards. Once the existence of Far Cry Primal confirmed Ubisoft was announcing a new game in the series, fans have been clamoring for any and all information about its release. Thankfully, as previously teased by the producers of the Game Awards 2015, this year’s ceremony has given the title an ample platform to shine, by revealing fresh gameplay footage from the forthcoming title....

2021 has already been a pretty busy year for the folks over at SNK and fans of The King of Fighters. After it was announced earlier that the reveal trailer for The King of Fighters XV would be delayed, an unfortunate leak of images caused the developer to release the trailer. Not only were fans treated to the trailer, but SNK also revealed that Fatal Fury Director, Masami Obari, would be helming a promotional animated short for The King of Fighters XV....

Gamescom 2020’s Opening Night Live featured games all across the spectrum, from revealing a medieval-themed Fall Guys second season to having Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown from Back to the Future announce the surprise release of Surgeon Simulator 2. Major franchises like Call of Duty, Ratchet & Clank, and Dragon Age appeared throughout the stream, but titles were also being showcased during the event’s pre-show. One such title was Codemasters’ off-road racing game Dirt 5, which introduced its Playgrounds feature....

Let’s face facts: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise Of The Skywalker sucked, still sucks, and will likely always suck. It’s just not an enjoyable film. It actually feels devoid of joy, like everyone involved in the production was struggling to get it finished so they could be free of the Star Wars franchise forever. Thanks to how poorly Episode IX came out, it’s retroactively ruined the Sequel Trilogy. It’s now apparent that there was never a plan or a point for these three movies....

Doom Eternal for the Nintendo Switch is considered by many to be one of the best looking games on that console. However, the team responsible for the Switch port had to put some limitations on how the game ran on Nintendo’s console. The development team at Panic Button understands that fans of Doom Eternal had to wait longer than expected for the port. There were even some who believed the port was entirely canceled....

Last year, Dragon Age: Inquisition gave EA’s swords-and-sorcery franchise a much needed shot in the arm, delivering a taut RPG experience more akin to the potential of the first game in the series rather than its disappointing sequel. Now, a DLC epilogue looks set to put a cap on its engaging storyline. If you played Inquisition, you’ll perhaps remember that the end of the campaign saw some balance returned to the world of Thedas — but, as the player character swearily mentions in the trailer for this new DLC, broken things rarely stay fixed in fantasy settings with such ongoing political strife....

It seems that a remake of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is on the cards, as the prospect of a new version of the game for the Nintendo Switch was discussed during the ten-year anniversary livestream. According to Gematsu, the livestream was made up of five prominent staff members of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, including Yuji Horii, who is the creator of the Dragon Quest series....

Despite its release not coming until the tail end of this year, a gaming museum in the Netherlands has already started to erect its PlayStation 5 Experience Zone. 2020 will mark the transition from one generation of console to another. As it stands, both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be released before the end of this year. The COVID-19 outbreak might well push those dates into 2021 but as it stands, nothing has changed and both of the next-gen consoles will be on the market in time for the holidays....
