Mass Effect 2 is a game that revolves around changes of pace. Most of the levels are fairly similar in design and scope - you land on a planet, go through 20-30 minutes’ worth of combat, and earn a story beat tied to squadmate acquisition, loyalty, or the encroaching Reaper threat. In between these slices of high-octane action, though, this is a game that is consciously and remarkably slow-burning - you chat to your alien pals, scan uncharted worlds for minerals, and bury your brain in what is quite frankly one of the most dense, complex, and riveting codex collections in video game history....

Microsoft’s upcoming slate of first-party titles like Fable, Everwild, and Perfect Dark, might still be years off according to an insider. GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring appeared on VGC’s Off The Record podcast, where the team talked about the recent rumours of Xbox and Hideo Kojima working together. On that subject, Chris discussed Microsoft’s current slate of first-party titles, and how he’s heard that they might be years away still. Specifically, Chris said, “Xbox has a lot of amazing studios and these games are coming but, I’ve had few conversations with friends at Xbox Games Studios and those games they announced, Everwild, Perfect Dark, Fable are so far away”....

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout releases in just a few days and it’s already starting to look like a huge success story. The competitive multiplayer game is currently in its final beta and beta codes are in high demand, in large part because it’s so popular on Twitch. But perhaps the biggest key to Fall Guys’ pre-launch success is the recent PlayStation Plus announcement. Fall Guys will be offered for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers on launch day, a strategic decision by developer Mediatonic that’s already paying off....

It’s easy to miss out on a lot of locations when playing Fallout 4. One of Fallout 4’s many traveling vendors, Trashcan Carla, decimates an attacking raider in brutal hand-to-hand combat that is reminiscent of Ronda Rousey. The world of Fallout 4 is full of interesting characters. From Diamond City’s resident sleuth Nick Valentine to the brutal companion Cait to the Minuteman Preston Garvey, the residents of the wasteland are brimming with personality. Many of them are quite lethal as well, though perhaps none are as dangerous as one merciless vendor....

Bethesda avoids the nausea dilemma in Fallout 4 VR by adding a teleportation feature to the Pip-Boy that allows players to smoothly travel short distances in the game environment. No company makes more engaging open worlds than Bethesda. From Elder Scrolls to Fallout 4, the company has mastered the art of sucking players into fantastic worlds where they can spend hundreds of hours exploring. Considering the level of immersion Bethesda aims for in its open worlds, it’s no surprise to see the company fully embrace the VR future at E3 2016....

Far Cry 5 has a wide roster of different AI companions, but Peaches the cat certainly numbers among the more unusual. Players looking to recruit this pleasantly-named mountain lion, described by the game as a “feline powerhouse,” must complete a lengthy but highly rewarding mission. To begin the process of adding Peaches to Far Cry 5’s Specialists Roster, players must head to “Peaches Taxidermy,” marked on the map just south of Drubman Marina in Faith’s Region....

E3 2021 is here, and Ubisoft Forward saw the publisher showcase a selection of games including Rainbow Six Extraction and Riders Republic - although one of the most exciting reveals was yet another detailed glimpse at Far Cry 6. The upcoming open world shooter is launching for all major consoles (except Nintendo Switch) and PC later this year, taking players to the island of Yara, a state inspired by the history of Cuba that is ruled over by Anton Castillo, a ruthless tyrant portrayed by Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Espisito....

Far Cry Primal has only been out for a day, but that hasn’t stopped some of its players from unearthing a few of the game’s entertaining secrets. Gamers already knew that Ubisoft had promised fans of the publishers’ many popular franchises some surprises within Far Cry Primal, which has resulted in a few players dedicating themselves to searching the in-game world for easter eggs....

There’s lots of pieces of media where the power of evil forces can be used to do good. For decades, anti-heroes like Ghost Rider have been using demonic powers to fight super villains. For example, in games like Dungeons & Dragons, players have the choice of being warlocks, making pacts with potentially malevolent otherworldly beings in order to gain magic and become adventurers. There are so many collectibles to find in Bethesda and Arkane Studios’ Dishonored series. These range from mysterious runes and bone charms to even paintings (Although how Corvo and Emily manage to drag all this loot around during their mission is anyone’s guess). One of the most essential types of collectible to find is the blueprints. While the first Dishonored game only had seven blueprints to find, Dishonored 2 has 19 scattered around the various beautiful levels....

Fans of Final Fantasy Tactics are always excited when the game receives some recognition from Square Enix, as it feels as if we are one step closer to a remaster or a true sequel. Dissidia NT is about to give Final Fantasy Tactics some much-needed love in the form of a new stage based on the game. The Orbonne Monastery is being added to the PlayStation 4 version of Dissidia NT as a stage in an upcoming update that is due to arrive in March....

While you really should do everything you can to avoid significant Psychonauts 2 spoilers before you’ve played the game, it’s understandable that some fans are already wondering whether or not the sequel’s story features a “point of no return.” In the original Psychonauts, players reached a moment in the story most commonly referred to as the point of no return. Just as the name suggests, it was basically the point in the story when you were essentially forced to play through the game’s climactic moments and could no longer return to the main camp area....

“See the future.” With those three innocuous little words and an enigmatic trailer (above), Sony has set the stage for a potentially momentous announcement, which it promises to deliver at 6:00 PM EST on Wednesday, February 20th, 2013. There is no way to know for sure exactly what Sony has planned, but at this early stage, one point seems exceedingly clear: after this tease, if the 20th rolls around and Sony reveals anything other than the PlayStation 4, gamers are apt to be furious....

One ridiculously skilled DOOM player takes on Bethesda’s and id Software’s fast-paced first-person shooter and ends up beating the game in less than an hour and a half. Now that DOOM is out in the wild, most fans of the title have almost certainly played through the game’s solo mode all the way to the end, as its campaign length should only take roughly 13 hours to complete. With this being the case, a lot of players will soon begin their attempts to fly through the title as quickly as possible, much like the YouTuber known as DraQu who has successfully completed a speed run of DOOM in exactly one hour, 29 minutes, and 58 seconds....

Dr Disrespect is back. While we don’t currently know when the controversial streamer will begin broadcasting again, his Twitch channel has been reinstated and is back online after a two week ban. The ban was enforced after Doc did his first ever IRL stream from E3. He had a camera follow him as he made his way around the convention. Unfortunately, the streamer went too far when he had the cameras also follow him into the public bathrooms, on more than one occasion....

Dragon Quest is a varied franchise when it comes to video games, with the mainline RPGs being joined by a Minecraft-inspired subseries, a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and even a Pokemon GO-style AR game that was recently trending on Twitter. Outside of that medium the series hasn’t been quite as prominent, but this weekend will see the premiere of the anime Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai....

While many associate it with a group of friends gathered around a table, there’s a large number of ways to play Dungeons and Dragons completely digitally. With the ongoing coronavirus, playing D&D digitally can be a great way to pass the time, though it can be difficult to get started. However, Wizards of the Coast is making it a lot easier for librarians and educators. Today, Wizards of the Coast announced it will be distributing 2,000 Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering digital kits for schools and libraries, along with the resources to play the games while practicing social distancing....
