Whenever games writers sit down to cobble together a list of the medium’s biggest moments, a section is inevitably set aside for the industry’s best soundtracks. It isn’t hard to remember some of the classics, like early Halo orchestra pieces or the incredible works of Final Fantasy music maestro Nobuo Uematsu - there’s something about truly inspiring or chilling tracks that resonate with players long after they’ve finished playing through the games they’re found in....

Far Cry 3 transformed the franchise, with Michael Mando’s performance as the antagonist Vaas making the games known for their strong villainous performances and character-driven stories. Far Cry 6 is looking to continue that trend with Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian’s Giancarlo Esposito taking up the role of Anton Castillo, the president the fictional Caribbean nation of Yara. This sets up the perfect opportunity for Far Cry 6 to have a Far Cry 3 Easter egg that connects the largely disparate stories of the games, as well as providing an explanation for one mystery carried over from the third game in Ubisoft’s famous first-person shooter franchise....

Earlier this week it emerged that ex-Destiny composer Marty O’Donnell had won the “epic lawsuit” that he filed against his former employees, Bungie. O’Donnell lost his job in April, 2014, after being terminated, the composer said, “without cause.” Moreover, fans saw O’Donnell’s firing suspicious considering how integral the composer had been to the studio’s work, including his excellent Halo scores. The lawsuit did provide some answers on that, however, as it revealed that there had been rifts between O’Donnell and (Destiny’s publisher) Activision since E3 2013....

Bungie quells rumors ahead of its next Destiny reveal stream for the upcoming April Update, telling fans not to expect private matches to be a part of the discussion. Bungie has been streaming every Wednesday for the past few weeks, revealing more each time about the April Update coming to Destiny next week. The developer has shown off a revamped Prison of Elders as well as new gear and Light level....

Destruction AllStars will be $20 once it is no longer free via PS Plus. A marked step down compared to the $70 price tag it originally had. Destruction AllStars was supposed to be a PS5 launch title last November. However, prior to the console’s release, it was announced that the game would be delayed. Shortly after that, Lucid Games revealed Destruction AllStars would instead be making its debut as a PS Plus exclusive....

It’s not uncommon for different development companies to express admiration or some form of welcome message when a competitor manages to put out its products. For instance, Sony and Microsoft have shared laughs in the past, and so has PUBG’s creator with practically every battle royale title to hit the market, including Apex Legends. Now, The Division 2 and Warframe have shared welcome messages for BioWare’s latest action RPG, Anthem....

In 2005, Steven Moffat wouldn’t have been as successful a Doctor Who showrunner as Russell T. Davies. The two are very different writers, with Moffat simultaneously introverted and romantic in comparison to Davies’ passionate tenure’s underlying cynicism. The latter was much better suited to introducing the show to a wider audience, and the former was better at interrogating the show’s tropes and characters (much easier to do if you’re going second)....

Already unquestionably one of the highest-rated games of 2020 Doom Eternal is bringing fans back with downloadable content that is so immersive and expansive that it can easily be confused with a full expansion. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, there is an unmarked quest called “Bottles on the Wall.” The quest has nothing to do with the main plot nor does it have a story. Basically, it is just a collection of various bottles of Thedas’ malts, meads, brandies, and reserves. Every bottle found comes with a little Codex Entry and 200 influence. Also, players can admire their bottle collection in Skyhold. Like the quest itself though, the collection is a little hidden....

With death such a common occurrence in Dragon Ball, Goku’s almost always in some level of danger throughout the series. Early Dragon Ball is often regarded as lighthearted, but the entire main cast has their lives on the lines by the end of the first arc. Come the Red Ribbon Army arc, Dragon Ball’s villains are actively trying to kill Son Goku by any means necessary. The stakes only rise from there....

Gohan has always been a major player in the story of Dragon Ball, but fans are divided about how the character was handled. It’s been quite a while since the LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule (Mm) unveiled its forthcoming sandbox video game, Dreams, with fans of the company having waited with bated breath for the announcement of the title’s official release date. While the game’s full launch still looks to be a ways off at the moment, Mm has decided to offer players the chance to give it a go early by revealing its beta dates....

Many Dungeons and Dragons players have shifted their games to a digital format in the past year and taken advantage of optional tools like DnD Beyond to help keep their campaigns running smoothly. It has been revealed that any and all details about Bethesda’s plans for The Elder Scrolls 6 are considered so secret that the game’s director, Todd Howard, won’t even share them with his own family. This revelation was made by Todd Howard, Bethesda’s director and executive producer, during a recent episode of the AIAS Game Maker’s Notebook, a podcast made by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. According to Howard, his own son, who is a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, has asked him for information about the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6, but Howard is unwilling to give anything up....

Open-world space shooter Everspace 2 was on-pace to deliver on its longstanding promise to Kickstarter backers that Early Access would launch this December. But there was one thing Everspace 2’s developers didn’t plan on, which was yet another delay for Cyberpunk 2077. As a result of Cyberpunk 2077’s release moving to December 10, Everspace 2 will be moving to a less competitive release window. Early Access is now planned to launch in January....

As some older players revisit one of their favorite games with the remake of Resident Evil 3, it becomes clear that major changes have been made in the form of cut locations, weapons, and features. It would be fascinating to learn more about the design choices made while developing this remake, and we hope that some developers will eventually shine a light on the many design choices made in the new game....

What do you get when you combine a 1960s spy thriller with a classic management sim? Evil Genius 2: World Domination, the sequel to the 2004 cult classic Evil Genius, just got an official gameplay trailer. The upcoming game will let players build an evil lair, train and recruit minions, and fight off invading forces, all from the perspective of an affably evil supervillain. The cartoonish style and tongue-in-cheek genre humor of the trailer are reminiscent of Team Fortress 2....

The other day, Blizzard made headlines when it released a short story for Overwatch that expanded further on the hero shooter’s lore. Despite the story being based on healer-sniper Ana, the biggest news from it was the revelation that popular DPS character Soldier: 76 is gay. This reveal has had a mixed reception online, with some applauding Blizzard’s decision, and others criticizing the studio for perceived pandering. However, one ex-Blizzard employee dislikes the Soldier: 76 situation for a different reason entirely....
