Doom Eternal delivers the same brutal, intense gameplay as the 2016 game, but with a few new tools that add an extra element of strategy. However, according to id Software’s Hugo Martin, a female Doom Slayer was also considered for Doom Eternal. Since the franchise began, the Doom Slayer has always been male. Known for his buff, intimidating appearance, and the now-iconic Praetor Suit, it is hard to imagine the character being any different....

Dota 2 has had both a staggering successful and a frustratingly disappointing year. It’s successful in that its 2020 Compendium, branded as The International 10 Battle Pass this year, raised a staggering $40 million for the tournament’s prize pool. It’s frustrating because the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed the live tournament schedule for Dota 2, including The International 10. At least recently players have been able to look forward to a new hero’s release in November, but it seems that plan’s now been delayed, too....

Dream Daddy is a visual-novel, dad-dating simulator game. Featuring a colorful cast of characters, wacky references, and dad-jokes galore, you can immerse yourself in the world and eligible bachelors via their own dad-sona. One such dateable Daddy is Damien Bloodmarch, the resident “Goth Dad” of the game. Despite his morose appearance, Damien is - as with all other bachelors - a loving father to his son, and a rich, complex character underneath his Gothic exterior....

Looks like 2021 will be bringing some good news for those waiting for Dying Light 2. The game’s developer, Techland, have confirmed that “fresh updates” for the sequel will be announced sometime in the next year. This is the first we have heard about the game since its Spring 2020 release was delayed at the beginning of the year and is sure to reignite excitement for the title. A Techland employee gave the update on Dying Light 2’s Discord channel....

Bethesda’s long-awaited first ever E3 2015 conference finished with a bang, with the studio showing off plenty of much-anticipated footage from Fallout 4. The game will offer players their first look at the pre-war world, as well as customizable bases and new brand conversation mechanics. Of course, Bethesda Game Studios also showed in-game footage for the latest Pip-Boy model found within Fallout 4, which players will find lying next to a long-dead scientist who isn’t likely to need it anymore....

EA has removed long-form ads that appeared in UFC 4 after fan revolt. Once again, EA has stepped in it. EA Sports UFC 4 released as a full price, AAA game last August, and then two weeks later the game’s publisher decided to turn on in-game advertising. And if those ads ruining the instant replays weren’t bad enough, smaller pop-up ads appear at the bottom of the screen during the actual gameplay....

Xbox Game Pass currently offers a long list of AAA games for one fixed monthly cost. The full EA Sports UFC 4 soundtrack has been revealed by EA, featuring major names like Eminem, J. Cole, and Stormzy. EA has steadily been sharing more information about the UFC sim, presenting videos like the EA Sports UFC 4 career mode trailer ahead of its release next week. Emma Stone’s comedy chops are always solid, and it seems Showtime has come to realize that. The premium network has just added Stone to its roster for an upcoming unusual comedy series called The Curse. The show will be created by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie. The show centers on a married couple trying to conceive a baby while starring on their own HGTV show, all the while dealing with a possible curse....

Three patients have died in it in the past five weeks, and even the medical team don’t quite seem reassured by the official explanation that the high mortality rate is down to the particularly severe ill health of those who have passed away. Fnatic has announced the appointment of Lucien Boyer as the new chairman of the London-based esports organization. Boyer previously served as the CMO at Vivendi and as the Global President and CEO of Havas Sports and Entertainment. Boyer will replace Nick Fry, who will stay on at Fnatic as an advisor. The organization has also hired Soraya Sobh as its Head of Talent Management and George Mead as its Interim Partnerships Director....

Since the first game hit stores back in the late 90s, the Fallout franchise has been a dominant force in both the post-apocalyptic and RPG genres. As one would expect, the games have evolved and expanded over time, though the core themes of post-apocalyptic survival have remained throughout the decades. The future of the Fallout series has been the subject of great interest within the gaming industry recently, as Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda has gamers curious as to what direction the IP will be going in the future....

I like to imagine Mordin is resting after what happens in Tuchanka during Mass Effect 3. He’s on a beach somewhere, collecting seashells, maybe analyzing a few. Salarians have pretty short lifespans when compared to the average human, around forty or so years. But I like to think that ultimately, Mordin lived a fulfilling life since he made it to 50 years old, something rare for his species. When I reflect on Mordin, there’s a big part of me that always wants to have a good cry for the Mass Effect scientist who went out so tragically, but ultimately, I think his story ended the way it should have....

The curtains just closed on Sony’s third-party and PSVR focused “State of Play” stream and I’m kind of confused why VR was even put into focus. If I’m not mistaken, there were exactly two titles with any kind of VR support here. Hitman III getting it is big and likely signals Sony is planning something for the PS5, but Vader Immortal we already knew about. It was certainly underwhelming, but that doesn’t mean cool things didn’t happen....

Modiphius Entertainment recently announced its next future expansion for the Fallout: Wasteland Warfare tabletop miniatures wargame. Into the Wasteland will allow you to become the wanderer you know from the video games, opening up the tabletop game for players who want to venture forth and explore all the dangers and discoveries the wasteland has waiting. The November 6 announcement didn’t give an exact launch date for when you can expect to go Into the Wasteland, only stating that it is “due for release next week....

Reekwater is the name of the new zone that arrived with the Secrets of the Swamp update. Reekwater is a “vast, densely wooded, supernatural swamp” which local fisherfolk have learned contains many prime fishing spots. The entire zone is filled with “the pungent and sickly sweet smell of decay” that gives it its name, and was once the settlement of Bayou Village, a “new Venice” settlement built on the sunken ruins of an Ancient residential district destroyed by a flotilla of the Siren Queen....

As many Fallout 4 fans are well aware at this point, the world of mods for the post-apocalyptic RPG is full of kooky, strange, and occasionally useful fan-made additions, with some of the more noteworthy creations giving the game a completely new feel like the recent Pilgrim horror mod that turns the title into a nightmarish fright-fest. Now, the modder by the handle of “thelonewarrior” is set to amplify the sequel’s science fiction tendencies even more than before by making a mod that adds mutant superpowers to the game....

Fallout 5 may still be a ways off, with Bethesda working on Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 for the foreseeable future. However, when the next game in the satirical post-apocalyptic series arrives, it will need to hit the ground running to restore the series’ reputation after the disappointing reception of Fallout 76 and some of the major flaws in Fallout 4. Fallout 5 should take a leaf out of BioShock’s book....
