Speaking to TheGamer ahead of this week’s BAFTA Game Awards, Supergiant Games’ Greg Kasavin has said he would love to see Hades’ dreamy hero in Nintendo’s crossover brawler. Hades has taken the gaming world by storm since its 1.0 launch and unexpected release on Nintendo Switch, drawing in millions of players and endless critical acclaim. We caught up with Greg Kasavin, the game’s lead writer and creative director, to talk about its success, diversity and how Supergiant has dealt with such an overwhelming amount of attention in recent months....

Fall Guys is one of the biggest games in the world right now. Due in part to it taking off on the streaming platform Twitch- which has created a viral following for the game. This launch is by far Devolver Digitals’ best launch ever. This game has truly struck gold with its mass appeal. Nailing both the ever-popular battle royal genre and also having competitive mini-games that players can invest themselves in and see how they rank against their friends- this game has something for everyone....

As one of the most successful games to release in 2020, Fall Guys has had to contend with the byproducts of that success rather rapidly. From requests for new levels to new skins, developer Mediatonic is doing its best to keep up with the demand for content. Recently, Fall Guys Community Manager Oliver Hindle teased the plan for Season 3 of the popular game. According to Hindle, Fall Guys Season3 will have more levels than in Season 2....

Comedic game-show inspired battle royale Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is getting ready to kick off its fourth season, which will officially begin next month. After several teasing tweets hinting that an announcement was coming, the official Fall Guys Twitter has finally confirmed the season’s theme and name. Fall Guys Season 4 will be titled “Fall Guys 4041” and feature a futuristic theme. A seven-second video clip released on Twitter doesn’t give away much information, but does include a vibrant neon color scheme and images of robots, planets, and spaceships....

This week marks the debut of Far Cry 5’s first live event, which is active from now until April 10th. These limited time objectives are supposed to give players an added challenge while exploring Hope County and some unique rewards should they, and the community, prove successful. The first live event for Far Cry 5 is called “Well Done” and its focus is pretty simple. Players must eliminate 10 animals using fire, but they cannot use Molotovs or the flamethrower weapon....

Far Cry 5 looks and feels like the kind of game that will mark a critical moment in Ubisoft’s frontier exploring franchise. While the series’ previous titles have had the same kind of storyline structure - a powerful, interesting villain in control of a large swath of land slowly being picked apart by a resistance - Far Cry 5 is doing some major things quite differently. Chief amongst those differences is the choice to set a game about exploring the unknown in rural Montana, a state in one of the most familiar countries in the world....

Ubisoft officially announces its decision to drop co-op and multiplayer altogether in the forthcoming action-adventure release known as Far Cry Primal. According to Ubisoft’s Community Manager, Jason Paradise, the game publisher and developer has decided to focus solely on single-player gameplay with its pre-historic title, Far Cry Primal, by nixing any and all multiplayer features. The news comes from a comment made by Paradise on Steam, as he explains that Far Cry Primal’s development team wanted to create the “best possible experience” for fans by ensuring the elements from the franchise remain fresh....

A sequel to the Detective Pikachu game released on Nintendo 3DS has been officially announced for the Nintendo Switch. There is a long history of video games not making good movies, and movies not making good video games. Detective Pikachu might well have brought an end to that trend. At the very least, it has bucked it. The Pokémon movie had a better opening weekend in theaters than any other video game adaptation that has come before it....

Devolver Digital’s Summer Game Fest showcase will take place on June 12 at 1:30pm PT/ 4:30pm ET/ 9:30pm BST. The schedule was confirmed by the official Summer Game Fest Twitter which revealed the date and time for the event. Devolver Digital has previously held “Big Fancy Press Conferences” around E3 that announce a game or two but mostly focus on wild satire. The first of these conferences was held in 2017 and was a pre-recorded video making fun of the nature of E3 conferences....

Fans of Diablo 2: Resurrected would fondly remember their battles with their Hirelings against the Prime Evils and the Burning Hells. Unlike what some players expect, they never fought the Prime Evils alone in this hit sequel to Blizzard’s gothic horror Diablo franchise. Interestingly, Hirelings added another dimension to gameplay in Diablo 2: Resurrectedrelease. After all, players had to decide whether they needed a long-ranged specialist or a melee expert for their skirmishes....

Activision Blizzard is currently under investigation following accusations of harassment, discrimination, and fostering a hostile work environment. You can read more about the investigation here. The Diablo franchise has always let players choose between a vareity of classes, but once you’ve chosen your starter class, the games usually lock you into your selections until you decide to start over. Diablo Immortal tries something a little different. When players start Diablo Immortal, they can pick from several classic classes, including the brutal Barbarian, noble Crusader, and the edgy Demon Hunter....

Disintegration dev V1 Interactive, which was founded by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, is shutting down less than a year after the game’s release. On Monday, the studio, based in Washington, thanked its staff for supporting the company these past five years. “We are sad to inform you that V1 Interactive is officially closing. We want to thank all the talented people at V1, both past and present, who helped make the last 5 years wonderful....

In the months leading up to Persona 5 Royal’s Western release in March 2020, news broke that Atlus West would be editing two scenes from the original game that were previously deemed to be homophobic by critics and fans alike. But were Atlus’ efforts enough when it came to removing the homophobic stereotypes and connotations from Persona 5’s original story? The Original Scenes The homophobic scenes in question feature two openly gay middle-aged male NPCs who pop up twice during the course of the game - once in Shinjuku and another time during the Phantom Thieves’ beach trip....
