UPDATE (6/1/2021): Microsoft has made an official announcement claiming Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos will not be timed exclusives on Xbox. “A blog post was mistakenly published by a local Xbox team that included inaccurate information regarding exclusivity of Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision on Xbox Series X|S. There is no exclusivity agreement of either tech on Xbox. We are proud to partner with Dolby to offer Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision to gamers on Xbox and will have more to share about the general availability of Dolby Vision on Xbox Series X|S soon....

Kingdom Hearts fans around the world expecting more entries in the series to come to the Switch should start lowering their expectations now, as Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that there are no plans to bring any more games to Nintendo’s latest system, outside of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory. The Kingdom Hearts series has mostly been associated with the PlayStation brand, but a few entries have made their way to Nintendo consoles in the past....

Yesterday was the first night of Gamescom 2020, and as part of the proceedings, Doom Eternal got a release date for part 1 of its upcoming Ancient Gods DLC. That still leaves part 2 of the DLC as somewhat of a mystery, however, an interview with executive producer Marty Stratton has provided a release window for Ancient Gods part 2. Doom Eternal first released in March, as the fifth main game in the long-running Doom series....

Bethesda releases a new video and blog post detailing the multiplayer maps for id Software’s forthcoming reboot of the famous first-person shooter DOOM. According to DOOM’s publisher, Bethesda, the forthcoming reboot to one of the goriest and most well-known first-person shooter franchises of all time is set to have 9 separate maps for its multiplayer mode, with each being more diverse than the last. As it happens, the company took the liberty of putting together some footage for DOOM that reveals all of the areas, and gives fans a small taste of the action to come this Summer....

The latest patch for Valve’s extremely popular MOBA game, Dota 2, contains possible evidence confirming the existence of the ever elusive Half-Life 3. For anyone still holding out hope that Half-Life 3 will ever be produced, new possible evidence has appeared, hinting that the game may actually be in active development, and it’s hidden within the latest patch for Dota 2. The text file is named hl3.txt, and seemingly references four separate features that will be included in the Half-Life 3 game (assuming that hl3....

The next generation of consoles is right around the corner, but for BioWare, many of the big releases it has in store are continuations of its flagship franchises, including Dragon Age 4 and a planned Mass Effect sequel for the next gen (though this is likely far off). The developer has already announced that it is working on Dragon Age 4 and the next Mass Effect game, but after the lessons learned from Andromeda’s disappointing reception, there’s one big pitfall it’s clear the Mass Effect series has fallen into that Dragon Age 4 needs to avoid....

Dragon Age’s creative director, Mike Laidlaw, has been with BioWare since 2003 and has recently, after 14 years, left the studio to pursue different projects. In a recent interview, Laidlaw explains why he left BioWare after the hugely successful Dragon Age: Inquisition, what he is working on now, his views on current RPGs, and what he thinks is the greatest RPG made in the last 10 years. Laidlaw has certainly worked on Dragon Age for a long time, perservering through all the controversy with Dragon Age 2, as well as enjoying the satisfaction of having Dragon Age: Inquisition winning many Game of the Year awards in 2015....

While Ash Ketchum and his squad of cute yet dangerous animal pals might have helped bring anime to the mainstream in North America, it was Goku who helped keep our interest in Japanese cartoons after the original Pokémon fad had died out. It appears now that The Witcher has found success on Netflix, the floodgates have officially opened, and almost every other week we’re hearing about another video game television adaptation in the works. Now, it turns out Netflix is working on another gaming-inspired project, and this time it’s based on 1983’s Dragon’s Lair. Not only will the show be coming to Netflix, but Ryan Reynolds, famously known for portraying Deadpool and Detective Pikachu, will be producing and starring in the project....

Legendary Entertainment is sending Denis Villeneuve and his cast to Budapest, Hungary, so they can re-shoot key scenes for the 2020 adaptation of Dune. Warner Bros has slated a release date for December 18th, 2020, and it looks like the movie is on schedule. Frank Herbert’s 1965 classic, Dune, has left a lasting impression in the sci-fi community. The sandworms alone are an awe-inspiring concept, especially when a reader imagines what it would be like to cross a massive sand flat without alerting the vibration-sensitive creatures below....

The absolutely magnificent DUSK from New Blood Interactive will be coming to Switch soon…just not within the month of October. Previously announced as hitting Nintendo’s hybrid platform on Halloween, DUSK has sadly been hit with a delay that will knock it out of the scariest month of the year. New Blood founder/shit poster Dave Oshry broke the news on Twitter and revealed that the reason for the setback is down to certification issues on the Nintendo eShop....

The Game Critics Awards nominees are in for E3 2013, and Respawn Entertainment’s new IP Titanfall has come away with a record 6 nominations. The full list of winners in each category will be announced on July 2nd. Titanfall wasn’t the only game to come away with a handful of nominations, though, as both Destiny and Watch Dogs were well represented thanks to the Game Critics Association. It’s important to mention, however, that a few games that might have made best-of lists did not make the cut here because they were not playable....

When the Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced, most fans felt exuberant joy, overwhelmed with happiness that the dreamed-of remake would finally be happening. Once the initial excitement calmed down, however, fans started worrying about the details. Would Square Enix leave favorite scenes alone, or tamper with what made Final Fantasy VII a classic? One such worry was that the infamous scene in which Cloud Strife disguises himself as a woman to infiltrate the Wall Market would be removed or heavily altered....

A new report reveals that EA designed FIFA 21 to funnel players towards a game mode that encouraged the purchase of loot boxes. The CBC obtained a 54-page internal document from EA’s sports division in Burnaby, BC, Canada that discusses design elements of FIFA 21. At various points, the document discusses a game mode called FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) and calls it a “cornerstone” of the game. “We are doing everything we can to drive players there,” reads one bullet point, while another is titled “all roads lead to FUT....

According to EA, both Dice and Respawn Entertainment are in charge of the future of Battlefront and Titanfall, and not the publisher itself. It was revealed in an interview with IGN that EA prefers to give its studios complete creative control over the games they make, and doesn’t like to tell teams what to create. In the interview, the chief studios officer for EA, Laura Miele, explains that each studio uses fan feedback and the general motivation of its developers to make decisions on what games should be made....

With UFC quickly becoming one of the most-watched live sports outlets across the entire globe, it seems many have been waiting patiently for a brand new game surrounding the global MMA phenomenon. While UFC 3 definitely still has a large fanbase, many agree that the game could use some significant updates to its core gameplay and roster of characters, especially as MMA is a sport that evolves extraordinarily quickly. It seems fans of the popular sport are in luck, however, as a new listing on the PlayStation store supposedly confirms the existence of a UFC 4....

It seems Epic Games finally returns to its appreciated tactics among PC players, offering not one, but as many as three free games for the next week at EGS. Previously known for such generous shares, the service was giving off not so many different titles lately, with even the same giveaways happening again. The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) revealed on September 28 that a total of 37 coaches have been banned following an investigation into the spectator bug abuse in competitive CS:GO matches. The bans vary in length from as little as nearly four months all the way to three years. The exploit allowed coaches to become spectators, and from there to manipulate their view of certain map sections, providing them with near-limitless information on the movements of opposing team players....
