Bethesda’s latest update to Doom Eternal made changes to game balance and added a ton of new content. Empowered Demons are the star of the show, priming for DOOM Eternal’s story DLC, and the new Invasion Mode allows players to take control of a monster in other people’s games. Invasion Mode and empowered demons will be especially engaging for veteran Doom players who have already completed the campaign, but still want to dive into the raw and gleeful violence that makes Doomslayer the strongest FPS protagonist....

Dr. Disrespect, the persona created by Guy Beahm, at times makes controversial statements on Twitch. The blurring of the lines between the man and the character sometimes makes it difficult to know how Beahm really feels on issues. But Dr. Disrespect is going against the brand by showing some real respect instead, standing with communities of color by calling out publishers and developers who don’t moderate their live streams when viewers spew hate....

Call of Duty: Warzone just got a massive update with the arrival of its new Season One. Now that Black Ops Cold War is out and integrated with Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale has a new Gulag experience for fallen players. However, it seems popular streamer and map designer Dr Disrespect wants the chance to create an even better Gulag map. The big content update for Call of Duty: Warzone introduced a new Gulag in the form of an enclosed Nuketown map....

Former Creative Director on the Dragon Age series, Mike Laidlaw, is building a new game development studio – Yellow Brick Games. Leading the charge with him are several industry vets, including Frederic St-Laurent B., Jeff Skalski, and Thomas Giroux. The new company is based in Quebec, Canada and will design “focused, high-quality titles that put the player experience first.” Its website leaves much to the imagination – as no games or job openings are mentioned – but we hope to learn more about the studio’s first game in the coming months....

Since December 2018, every two weeks on Thursday, Epic Games Store has made free games available to users of the online storefront. Originally intended to last for only a year as a way to draw visitors to the newly launched online store, Epic Games announced the extension of the free game promotion for an additional year in January 2020. The next free game to be offered on the Epic Games Store goes live on the site on November 26 and will be accessible at no cost through December 3....

The Escape From Tarkov servers are back from a brief maintenance period, equipped with a new update rolling out for PC platforms in all regions. Accompanying the Escape from Tarkov update is patch version 0.12.5, which is currently live and available for download. Developer Battlestate Games posted news of the update to Twitter, revealing that the patch adds new additions to the in-game features and a number of bug-fixes. Diving into specifics, the patch adds a new Therapist service to the popular Tarkov, allowing players to heal up immediately after a raid; the service also shows all sources of damage in untreated parts of the body during the raid....

It looks like the next entry in the Fable franchise will be built from the ground up without the use of any third-party applications. Developer Playground Games gave an update on the upcoming game, revealing that the graphics engine it will be using will be custom-made. Fable has used the same kind of art design in most installments, going back to when it was under the leadership of Lionshead Studios. Ever since the studio’s first game in 2004, the series has been praised for its gameplay quality and performance....

The Fallout universe is, by now, one which has been thoroughly fleshed out. Bethesda has committed a ton of resources towards recreating areas which feel and look real. Their most recent iteration, in Fallout 4, pushes this commitment to mimicry to a whole new level. You walk into a building and are confronted by all the clutter of a post-war world, with all the sad stories it leaves behind. In many ways, Bethesda uses this clutter to heighten the sense of drama and nostalgia within the Fallout series....

Every skill tree in Fallout 4 has 10 different perks that the player can unlock with perk points. Some of these perks are incredibly useful; however, some of these perks are silly and don’t have any meaningful effects. There are even perks that can be obtained through companions. The Charisma skill tree is full of useful perks that can aid the Sole Survivor while building settlements, adventuring with a companion, and fighting mutants deep within the Glowing Sea of the Commonwealth....

Fallout 76 is really starting to gain ground. When it first released, it was a bit of a letdown, to put it lightly. Even dedicated fans of the Fallout franchise were having a hard time accepting the “always online open-world adventure.” The bugs, the mistruths, and the rather empty worlds were enough to turn any player off.
