This past Monday, a 48-minute gameplay demonstration of Cyberpunk 2077 shown to the press and industry professionals at E3 2018, was revealed to the public via Twitch and YouTube livestreams. While the video undoubtedly got fans even more excited for the game – which is tentatively scheduled for release in 2019 – the CD Projekt Red team is asking fans to temper their expectations. Following the public livestream, Cyberpunk 2077’s Game Director and CD Projekt Red Head of Studio, Adam Badowski¸ expressed that the demo is not exactly representative of how the final game will probably look or feel....

When asked in July, Xbox head Phil Spencer refused to comment on how much games for the Xbox Series X would cost, though it was estimated at the time that the price point would average $70. After a long period of waiting, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot fans finally know what to expect from DLC 3. To the surprise of many, Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 aren’t continuing the story of Dragon Ball Super with the Universe 6 Saga or even the Future Trunks arc, but instead are opting to go back in time to events from Dragon Ball Z. In this additional story arc, players will get to see the world through the eyes of a young Trunks after Goku dies of a heart disease and the rest of the Z Warriors are wiped out by the android menace....

For racing game enthusiasts, 2014 was a very strong year as a number of high profile titles hit the market including Forza Horizon 2, Driveclub, and The Crew to name a few. Shortly after the launch of the Battlefield 1 beta, Electronic Arts’ servers were hit with a DDOS attack, making it difficult to log into the online multiplayer test. This week has not been a great one for online launches, as another major game is taken down by a DDOS attack. Luckily for Electronic Arts, the attack has only significantly hurt the launch of its Battlefield 1 beta, whereas yesterday’s DDOS attack on Blizzard put a dark cloud over the World of Warcraft: Legion launch....

EA is a publisher that has seen many highs and many lows over the course of its multiple decades in the industry. Its aggressive business practices, in particular with regards to buying out developers such as Pandemic and BioWare, seemed to reach its peak when EA acquired PopCap for $1 billion. The corporation has made a massive $15 million investment in Manticore Games, the company behind game development tool Core. Core seeks to give everyday people the power to create, share, and even sell compelling video games, a right which is currently restricted to triple A developers or particularly talented indie devs....

Epic Games is taking its legal battle with Apple’s App Store rules to Europe where it has filed a complaint with EU’s antitrust regulators. In a blog post, Epic said it was pursuing legal action for “fairer digital platform practices for developers and consumers.” The EU began investigating Apple’s practices last year and have recently unveiled a plan to extend regulation to restrict platforms in order to ensure fairness and accountability in regard to third parties....

Shinji Mikami has been in the video game industry for thirty years. He started his career at Capcom in 1990, and worked on several licensed games before directing his first project, Resident Evil, in 1996. The debut entry in the survival-horror franchise was revolutionary in a variety of ways, solidifying the game designer’s legacy for generations to come. After leaving the publisher, he worked with several other developers and publishers before founding Tango Gameworks, which came out of the gate with the cult horror classic The Evil Within, the last game Shinji Mikami directed....
