The narrative timeline of the core Pokemon series has long been speculated among fans. Like a typical Nintendo series, the timeline can be quite obscure and strange due to the sheer amount of games and remakes. Luckily, it’s not as complicated as the Zelda timeline, but it does have some similarities. There are way more games than just the core series, such as the Mystery Dungeon games. Those games take place in an alternate universe though, so they are not discussed with the core timeline....

The versatility and convenience of the Switch aren’t the only reasons players want all of their favorite games ported onto the handheld console. Did you know that, without a single graphical upgrade, games on Switch just look better? I’m not talking about new games of course. Side-by-side comparisons of DOOM 2016, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Order clearly show that Switch isn’t nearly as powerful as the PS4 and Xbox One....

The war for the entire Magic the Gathering multiverse has begun. F1 2016 is a fantastic return for the racing series, delivering a deep and exciting Career Mode alongside thrilling and fluid racing and varied gameplay modes. Bethesda releases a new Fallout app for Android and iOS mobile devices, which allows users to send 60 Fallout-themed emoji and GIFs via messaging apps. As the latest tie-in to promote the rapidly-approaching Fallout 4, Bethesda has released a new app for both iPhone and Android. The app, entitled Fallout C.H.A.T., isn’t a game; rather, it’s an app filled with Fallout emoji and GIFs that can be sent to friends via other messaging apps....

LEGO is one of the most iconic toy brands around, beloved by men, women, and children worldwide for its focus on creativity. In recent years, however, the company has taken to using outside properties, and with great effect. Some have even branched out into the world of video games, with the likes of LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Batman achieving great success. Apart from exotic locales, Americanized protagonists, and guns, Far Cry games have always been carried by their villains. Any good Far Cry game, for that matter, has a charismatic, insane, and talkative villain that’s actually more interesting than the playable character. Although, not all of them are like this. Around half of all the Far Cry games are filled with lame or try-hard antagonists. While those make the game a bit less motivating to finish, they at least make the more decent villains shine, making some Far Cry games exceptional....

What is better than going to a weird world’s backwater province and greeting the unwelcoming locals with a healthy serving of lead slugs? Why, doing it with an animal companion, of course! The Far Cry games have been giving this opportunity to us ever since Far Cry Primal and with the upcoming Far Cry 6, it does seem that they’re upping the ante by including some wackier and more helpful animal companions....

Playing through Far Cry 5 was generally a blast, so long as the player largely isn’t paying close attention to the story. As much as the fifth game emphasizes how refined the gameplay has become since its revamp in Far Cry 3, the story doesn’t quite match some of the highs of previous titles. Arguably, in a lot of ways, it’s the villain’s designs themselves that just aren’t quite nailing previous potential, but more importantly one huge factor is the fact that Far Cry 5’s protagonist is a silent avatar that players can create themselves....

Opinions on Far Cry 2, at least in comparison to the rest of the series, are generally mixed. Some would tout it as the best entry in the whole franchise, despite its shortcomings. Others would believe Far Cry 2 was formative but wasn’t as revolutionary as the big changes made in Far Cry 3. Opinions aside, Far Cry 2 did establish a lot of important foundations that would impact a lot of what would become the modern Far Cry game....

Eidos Montreal and Square Enix officially reveal the details and release date for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s first installment of downloadable content. Even though Deus Ex: Mankind Divided just recently launched a couple of weeks ago to positive reviews, fans won’t have to wait much longer in order to obtain the stealth-oriented action-RPG’s first expansion. According to developer Eidos Montreal and Square Enix, the game’s first piece of story-based content is called “System Rift,” and it is set to launch for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms on September 23, 2016....

Codemasters has given Dirt 5 fans an early Christmas present by announcing the racer’s first, major update. Update 2.00 brings a sleigh full of tweaks including a number of bug fixes as well as wheel-support across all platforms and is available today on Steam. Update 2.00 for PlayStation and Xbox will follow in the next few days. Dirt 5 is the eighth Dirt game and 14th title in the Colin McRae Rally series, which is about to receive a truck full of enhancements....

This past week, Ubisoft made a major announcement, confirming that The Division 2 developer Massive Entertainment was now working on an open-world Star Wars project. It was confirmation that Disney’s exclusivity contract with Electronic Arts would be ending, leading to more Star Wars games year to year. There was just one lingering question: What would happen to Massive’s previously announced Avatar game? It turns out that nothing would happen, as both Avatar and Star Wars games remain in development....

The resurgence of Resident Evil on the silver screen will arrive next year, and another actor has been added to the roster. Gotham star Donal Logue has been cast as Chief Brian Irons in the reboot, joining the previously announced Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia and Neal McDonough. Production is in full swing (despite the ongoing pandemic) for British director Johannes Roberts, who delivered previous titles such as 47 Meters Down: Uncaged and The Strangers: Prey at Night....

Following the devastating shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas Highschool in Parkland, FL. that left 17 dead and 15 injured, elected officials have been debating the causes of mass shootings. United States President Donald Trump has suggested that violent video games are “shaping young people’s thoughts” and could be to blame for the country’s mass shootings. After Trump’s comments came under scrutiny by gamers and games industry figures alike, the White House announced that the President would be meeting with games industry executives next week to talk about the issues....

Doom Eternal is now available and, by all accounts, it’s as metal its predecessor. Nothing symbolically represents how metal Doom Eternal is than by referencing an action movie villain/hero literally made out of metal. Doom Eternal brings back one of the 2016 game’s most popular Easter eggs, which is a reference to the 1991 film Terminator 2: Judgement Day. In fact, it’s literally the Easter egg that was in 2016’s Doom....
