That’s why it’s so endearing to get an occasional lighthearted moment, be it in multiplayer or single-player modes, a moment where something actually comical happens. A Reddit post by user OkMijnMusic illustrates one of these moments. Playing Call of Duty: Warzone, the Reddit user noticed a downed enemy player and walked over to them. While most competitors’ instincts would be to shoot the enemy, OkMijnMusic’s first instinct was to repeatedly give the downed player a thumbs-up, rather than take the final shot....

Electronics Arts has continued cutting off less-profitable portions of their company following their recent fiscal report which presented losses up 26% percent. After laying off 1,500 employees yesterday, the company now slashed its projected game releases in 2010 down to “somewhere in the high 30s”. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney has taken Google to task after the company publicly released details about a flaw in Fortnite’s security. In the little more than a year that Fortnite has been around, the video game has only continued to get bigger and more popular, gaining more players and being added to more platforms. However, the biggest step forward came this summer. Fortnite’s developers Epic finally made the game available on Android, believing that would lead to it being downloaded as many as 250 million more times....

Monday marked the first day of the big Epic versus Apple lawsuit. Apple argued that Epic is just being opportunistic and that opening up the App store would leave it vulnerable to hacking and privacy concerns. Epic argued that Apple’s iOS was essentially a walled garden, locking in users and developers alike to onerous terms of use. According to Comscore’s 2020 State of Gaming, as traditional sports shut down during the coronavirus pandemic, fans flocked to esports. As of April 2020, 25% of gamers had watched esports in the past three months. The move from traditional sports to esports coincided with lockdowns in major league sports. It remains to be seen if this boost will be sustained after the NHL, NBA, and WNBA resume their postponed seasons this week....

Spoilers for Dragon Quest 11, but if you’ve finished Square Enix’s massive JRPG, you’ll know that it essentially has two stories. One sees your friends sacrifice themselves to change the world, and the other walks it all back for a showdown with a giant space egg. While I’m all for happy endings, this switcheroo does make the first 50 hours of the game feel a bit pointless.
