Discord has banned r/WallStreetBets, the subreddit that drove GameStop’s stocks to record-breaking heights in recent days, from its website for violating its policy against hate speech. The decision sparked an outcry on social media, which caused Discord to quickly reevaluate its relationship with the subreddit. GameStock’s stock has skyrocketed from $20 at the beginning of the year to a peak of more than $450 on Thursday morning after day traders from r/WallStreetBets began buying up the company’s stock....

In order to fix performance problems occurring with Dishonored 2’s PC version, the developers at Bethesda and Arkane Studios release a patch for the stealth-action title. As many PC gamers are likely aware, Dishonored 2 has encountered a fair share of major issues on the platform since its official launch last week. With some fans’ playthroughs practically struggling to reach 60 frames per second at 1080p – there have even been reports of several games dropping as low as 13 FPS – it’s safe to say that the most recent entry in Bethesda and Arkane Studios’ stealth-action series is at the very least experiencing frame rate problems on PC....

The world got its first look at V1 Interactive’s sci-fi first-person shooter and real-time strategy game hybrid Disintegration with a trailer debut at Gamescom 2019. Since then the developers have let players take part in closed beta tests, but there was no word on an official release date. That is, until a story trailer for the game was posted to Twitter today letting fans know they can officially pre-order Disintegration for its June 16, 2020 release....

Dota 2 is one of the premiere games in eSports, and it is scheduled to have one of the first big eSports tournaments of the year on January 15. Called Galaxy Battles, the $1 million tournament was designated a Major tournament by Valve and had the company’s full-backing, with participating players able to earn Pro Circuit qualifying points. However, Valve has since dropped its support of the tournament due to new government regulations in the Philippines that would require Dota 2 players to be drug-tested....

Nintendo announced on Twitter today that Dr. Mario World will be releasing for iOS and Android on July 10th. This marks the sixth mobile release from Nintendo as well as the sixth installment in the Dr. Mario puzzle game series. First announced in February, Dr. Mario World will include for the first time Dr. Peach, Dr. Yoshi, and Dr. Toad as playable characters, each with their own unique abilities. A trailer for the game also released today, highlighting some updated mechanics that seem to be closer to clear-the-board style puzzle games rather than the traditional Puyo Puyo gameplay that the series is known for....

It’s been a while since Guy Beahm, better known as Dr. Disrespect, was banned from Twitch, but the reason behind the ban is still unknown. In Dr Disrespect’s highly popular first YouTube stream, he reiterated that he doesn’t know why he was banned either. Over 500,000 viewers tuned in to watch Doc’s first major foray into YouTube, and one of the first things they heard from him was “We still have no idea,” referring to the infamous ban....

The long anticipated wait for a first look at Star Wars Battlefront 2 finally came to an end this past weekend as EA and DICE revealed a ton of information about the upcoming game including a first look thanks to an in-engine trailer. Epic’s case against Apple has revealed that Epic Games will not put Fortnite on Microsoft’s xCloud service as the company sees it as competition. According to The Verge, Epic Games’ vice president of business development Joe Kreiner was questioned as to why Fortnite isn’t available on xCloud. Kreiner goes on to explain that it’s because Epic views Microsoft’s xCloud as “competitive with our PC offerings.” The Verge also states that it’s likely Kreiner goes on to explain these views more thoroughly, but the rest of his answer has been redacted....

If ESPN President John Skipper has anything to say about it, however, eSports’ reach won’t be that far. When asked point blank what he thinks of the growing popularity of eSports, Skipper’s response was that it is “not a sport.” ESPN’s President made the comments during the Code/Media Series: New York conference and made no qualms about what he thinks of eSports. Skipper likens competitive video games to chess or checkers, calling the events competitions but not “sports....

There’s a new mobile Evangelion game out in Japan that brings toys-to-live to the franchise. Evangelion is one of those rare franchises with incredible staying power. It’s been decades since the original manga released and almost as long since the anime was localized for North American audiences, but despite this, Evangelion is still around. We have Netflix to thank for providing this classic anime with a renaissance, and it looks like franchise creator Keiichi Yano is cashing in with a brand new mobile game with a twist....
