It’s hard to think of a more intriguing chance for change within media than the growth of virtual reality. Whether it be Facebook’s $2 billion buyout of Oculus or the successful release of the Vive headset that saw Valve sell 15,000 units in 15 minutes, it seems as though both industry heads and gamers themselves are excited to see what virtual reality has in store for gaming and creative media as a whole....

Plenty of games break the fourth wall, but very few of them do it with the frequency and terrifying zeal of Doki Doki Literature Club. This dating sim turned psychological horror game draws a lot of its most memorable scares from these kinds of moments, adding and removing files from the game directory in time with the story to create a frightening atmosphere. These kinds of scares were pretty reliant on the game being a PC title, so some have wondered how DDLC can possibly work on consoles....

Earlier this year, Bethesda and id Software launched the highly anticipated Doom Eternal on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One to critical and commercial success. The title is one of the highest reviewed games of the year and the game’s launch sales tripled those of the 2016 Doom reboot. Just yesterday, Arc System Works and Bandai Namco Entertainment released a strange, albeit creative teaser video that offered fans a brief notion of what the Super Saiyan Broly would sound like during combat in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Now, the companies have made good on the tease by finally sharing a full character intro trailer for the forthcoming brawler in the popular fighting game. As seen below in Broly’s character intro for Dragon Ball FighterZ, the Legendary Super Saiyan goes toe to toe with the hero Goku in outer space, as the latter character is on the receiving end of a major beat down from the antagonist’s gigantic fists....

Easily the most popular arc in the franchise, the Frieza saga completely redefined Dragon Ball for the foreseeable future. One of the most surprising cameos in the Pokémon anime has just taken place, as DUX the Farfetch’d from Pokémon Red & Blue has appeared in Pokémon Journeys: The Series. Farfetch’d was one of the original 151 Pokémon from Pokémon Red & Blue. The only way to acquire one (outside of trading with a friend) was through an in-game trade. In order to get a Farfetch’d, the player needed to travel to Vermillion City and find a girl who wants a Spearow....

One of the world’s biggest gaming conferences began with quite a bang as Microsoft Studios launched their incredible press conference. The team behind the iconic Xbox consoles have developed some of the best games in entertainment history, from the Halo franchise to Gears of War and more. As gamers began to receive the many EA titles they ordered over this past holiday weekend, some were surprised to find that the Online Pass contained within those games had expired. For example, one gamer tried to redeem their pass for Need for Speed: The Run and ended up with a message saying that Online Pass had expired. After having contacted EA said gamer found out that the Online Pass for each EA game does have a shelf life, but will never officially expire....

As part of the latest Summer Game Fest reveal, Epic Games has officially unveiled Unreal Engine 5, showcasing the technology running live on Sony’s next-generation PlayStation 5 console. Epic’s goal with Unreal Engine 5 is to “achieve photorealism” that is “on par with movie CG and real life,” and judging by the Lumen in the Land of Nanite demo, it may very well reach those lofty expectations. Epic Games created the Lumen in the Land of Nanite tech demo to showcase two specific technologies that will be available to developers working with Unreal Engine 5....

Escape From Tarkov, the explosively popular FPS game applauded for its realism, is adding two World War 2-era weapons to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s defeat of Nazi Germany. The two weapons are the Colt M1911 pistol and the PPSH-41 submachine gun. Both weapons are famous for their use during World War 2 and should prove to be worthwhile additions to the game. Escape From Tarkov emphasizes on realism in regards to its movement, equipment management, and weapons, with animations for nearly every aspect of their use being featured in-game....

Coming off of the massive success of Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, developer From Software is now putting all of its focus on its next upcoming game, the highly anticipated Elden Ring. There is currently no official release date for the game and there probably won’t be one for a while due to the coronavirus’ effect on the gaming industry. Still, the game has supposedly had its release date leaked twice at this point, in addition to some other leaks and rumors that have come out over the months since the game’s announcement at E3 2019....
