Last month at E3, Nintendo confirmed that Dragon Ball FighterZ would be coming to Nintendo Switch this year. Those who read the video description under the trailer found a peculiar sentence: “…this Nintendo Switch version also includes its share of exclusive features.” Today, Bandai Namco confirmed that the Switch version would be getting new modes for local multiplayer. Although not confirmed to be exclusive, these modes are brand new (with the exception of the 6-player Party Match) for the game....

EA is currently experiencing server issues impacting many of its games and services, including major titles like Battlefield 5, FIFA 20, and even its PC application Origin. The issues have been widespread and ongoing, with no estimated time of repair as of this writing. EA has acknowledged the problem, and is currently working to find a solution, according to its Twitter account. Initially, users had reported having issues accessing the services overnight, though it seems that the problems have persisted....

It was just yesterday that we learned Electronic Arts had entered into a last-minute bid to purchase Codemasters—creators of the racing games Dirt and F1. Early in the morning of December 14, it’s confirmed that Codemasters has accepted the offer from EA and will not be purchased by Take-Two Interactive. The acquisition is still slated to be completed in the first quarter of 2021. Previously, it was reported that Codemasters had reached a preliminary agreement to be purchased by Take-Two Interactive....

Due to coronavirus concerns, EA has canceled live events for titles like Apex Legends and FIFA 20. In their place, the company has started a “Stay Home, Play Together” initiative that will offer events and livestreams for players to take part in across its many active titles. In a press release sent out earlier today, EA brought special attention to a FIFA 20 ‘Stay and Play Cup’ that will be streamed between April 15 and April 19th on the game’s official Twitch channel to support Global Giving’s Coronavirus Relief Fund....

EA Sports has finally announced some of the soccer stars that will be gracing the cover of FIFA 12 around the world. Among the cover athletes are the likes of Wayne Rooney — who will be featured on the cover in England, Ireland, and several other countries, Xabi Alonso (Spain), Jack Wilshire, and Kaka. Unfortunately EA Sports has yet to reveal which athletes will be joining Rooney on the North American cover of FIFA 12....

Sony had a banner 2018 thanks in large part to high-quality, first party titles like God of War. This latest entry in the long running violent action series managed to evolve the franchise from its familiar gameplay style, something not many people thought was possible. Taking the franchise out of the Greek pantheon, players step into the shoes of an older Kratos, now with a son of his own. Placing a bigger focus on this relationship as well as a stronger emphasis on story, original concepts for the game also included a lot more boss fights than what the final product offered players....

The Kickstarter campaign for the Suikoden-inspired JRPG Eiyuden Chronicle is now ever. After a month-long funding initiative, Eiyuden Chronicle brought in an incredibly impressive ¥481,621,841, or around $4.57 million. Not only does that amount smash Eiyuden Chronicle’s initial goal of around $500,000, but it does something much more impressive — it makes Eiyuden Chronicle the third-largest video game Kickstarter project ever run. At just over four and a half million dollars in funding, Eiyuden Chronicle significantly outraised Kickstarter’s fourth-largest campaign in Torment: Tides of Numenara....

Elden Ring may not release for some time yet, but loyal fans are already anticipating a worthy follow-up in Elden Ring to the likes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Over the years, From Software has created a long line of brilliant games with consistent quality and groundbreaking design philosophy, and Elden Ring will have to live up to that tradition. It is easy to assume that FromS oftware will strike again with its newest game, but looking at the success of past titles, the changes that Elden Ring will make, and the stiff competition that the game will likely have, the gargantuan task of making Elden Ring stand out as yet another masterpiece becomes clear....

The latest game produced by Paradox, Empire of Sin is a niche, but fascinating creation. As a strategy game set in 1920s Chicago, Empire of Sin’s trailers certainly make it look promising. The central premise of Empire of Sin is as simple as it is brilliant and, amazingly, unexplored in video games. At least, unexplored in the way Empire of Sin does it. This is a grand strategy game centered on the many criminal empires in 1920s Chicago that sprang up thanks to Prohibition....

This week seemed to bring a bit of good news for U.S. video game developers and fans of the games they make, as the Entertainment Software Association published a report claiming that the video game industry is growing at four times the rate of the American economy, with video game industry job growth increasing 9 per cent year over year since 2009. This claim came as something of a surprise after years of reports that the video game industry is in decline, so we took a closer look at the report to see how accurate it was....

After Baldur’s Gate 3 released its early access build, many CRPG fans have decided to try out Larian Studios’ older titles to get their RPG fix. Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian’s most recent RPG, is widely considered one of the best CRPGs of the modern era. Its plethora of quests and choices make for an infinitely replayable experience. A great example of this is the quest “Hammerfall.” Towards the end of the quest, players will need to pass a trial from a statue in order to enter the game’s final story mission....

The chance to play as a member of the strongest guild in Fiore is an exciting prospect, so the upcoming Koei Tecmo Fairy Tail RPG has a lot to offer fans of the anime and manga. Unfortunately, the title has seen a series of delays. To make the wait more bearable, the publisher has released a new trailer packed with nearly 25 minutes of uncut English gameplay. The Fairy Tail Crocus & Grand Magic Games trailer follows Natsu and the gang as they enter Crocus, the location of the Grand Magic Games....

One Fallout 4 player decides to create animations that showcase weapon condition, with a mind to creating some modded content to introduce durability in the future. Valve is really testing the patience of Half-Life fans. Or are they? Not many game developers have hit the level of free publicity through rumors and speculation as Valve has for the unannounced Half-Life 3. While hiding the franchise under the radar, Valve had focused work on Steam as well as their other brands, including Portal, Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2. But while they’re bringing back another one of their most popular series with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, there’s still no official movement on the long-awaited Half-Life 3....

Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy is more than the sum of its parts. So regardless of niggles with individual installments, it’s hard to deny that this is an unusual and bold project for the streaming service and the director of all three, Leigh Janiak. Part three is the most ambitious of the lot, taking us back to colonial America and a time of superstition and religious fervor. Simon and Kate (Fred Hechinger and Julia Rehwald) from Fear Street ’94 are back as Isaac and Lizzie here....

With the release of Batman: Arkham City quickly coming upon us (October 18th for North America, 19th for Australia, and the 21st for Europe and other global territories) we are still learning some of the finer details of the game. After a solid showing by Square Enix’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution, gamers have had high expectations for the next game in the series: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which has gone gold and is set to release soon. The cyberpunk RPG from Eidos Montreal looks to live up to and even surpass the success of its predecessor, and based on the reviews rolling in for the game, it seems like it’s met the hype....

Devolver Digital has announced Boomerang X, a fast-paced first-person shooter developed by DANG! The trailer, released on February 25, introduces players to the game’s high-flying combat, and a taste of some of Devolver’s signature tongue-in-cheek humor. A quick tour of Boomerang X’s cel-shaded locales follows, topped off with the all-important (but vague) release date of Spring 2021. As such, it’s likely Boomerang X will be out within a few months- a playable demo is already available on Steam for those wanting to get their hands on the title....
