Having said that, the last few years haven’t been kind to the genre, with the popular Skate series being placed on indefinite hiatus since the release of Skate 3 in 2010 and the latest entries in the long-running Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series being critically-panned....

Yesterday, a new trailer for the upcoming Earthworm Jim 4 was shared by Intellivision. To those that may have forgotten, somehow Intellivision acquired the rights last year to an exclusive sequel for its seemingly ill-fated Amico console. Reuniting most of the dev team behind the original titles, it should be a slam dunk for fans that grew up in the ’90s. There’s just one problem. Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel is involved....

When it comes to Persona 5 Strikers, there are three default difficulties that you can choose from; Easy, Normal, or Hard. The second leg of Riot Games’ VALORANT First Strike tournament concluded over the weekend with some of the best matches yet. 16 teams battled it out in group stages until eight made it to a single elimination bracket. It was Envy who came out on top, fighting their way through the rest of the competition and earning the first seed heading into the First Strike final event in December. Envy made it through a tough group stage that included Sentinels, Dignitas and Spot Up where they lost to Sentinels but overcame Dignitas to secure a spot in the top eight....

Since its battle royale mode launched in September of last year, Fortnite has been closely linked to content and streaming platforms such as YouTube and Twitch, and it, along with many content creators, gained much of its popularity because of the association with these platforms. Owing a considerable amount of Fortnite’s popularity to many content creators, it seems that Epic Games feels the need to give back to those who have, in some cases, earned a living off of its game for over a year now....

It’s hard to talk about RPGs without mentioning The Elder Scrolls franchise. The way Bethesda has molded the RPG genre with their main Elder Scrolls titles cannot be overstated. Bethesda has always pushed to make immersive experiences, crafting beautiful worlds well before open-world design became the standard. Despite having five main entries, there are many more Elder Scrolls titles that are either spinoffs or entire series in their own right. While Bethesda has settled on making open-world RPGs ever since Morrowind, Zenimax Online Studios and other studios have made Elder Scrolls games with strange alterations to the franchise for better or worse....

Sports games are a dime a dozen. Well, not literally - annual installments cost £70 a pop - but you know what I mean. There’s a lot of them. That means to truly be successful, these games need to stand out against the competition and remind their players why they continue to fork over their hard-earned cash for what can feel like the same game over and over again. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is the hit new online party game that is currently trending on PC and PS4. Amongst a range of online battle royale games, Fall Guys is a more fun and family friendly option. The game is extremely fun and also extremely difficult, but players are finding new ways to succeed in the competitive game. Fall Guys plays out in a series of fun party mini-games with players racing to be the last one standing or the first one across the finish line....

Bethesda’s upcoming online multiplayer shooter-RPG, Fallout 76, is in its final week of beta testing before it launches on November 14. Thursday marked the last beta event before the servers go down in preparation for launch, giving players just one more opportunity try Fallout 76. But the beta tests have also given players a better idea as to how some of the systems in the game work, like the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Perk system....

Following Fallout 76’s dismal launch last year, there’s no doubt now that the online multiplayer RPG was easily one of the most disappointing games of 2018. Since then, it’s safe to say that many believe the title still isn’t up to par when it comes to post-launch support, with a vocal portion of the FO76 community asserting that it needs myriad fixes and balance changes in order to even be considered playable....

Red orbs are the primary currency in Devil May Cry 5, used to do everything from purchase upgrades for the three playable characters to buying revives if players are downed in battle. Considering how important red orbs are in Devil May Cry 5, it’s good for players to have a large stash of them at all times, and as it turns out, they can use a recently discovered exploit to farm over 5 million red orbs per hour....

Today marks the start of the first Legendary Pokemon distribution event of 2018, the first of what Game Freak is describing as a “yearlong parade” of Legendary Pokemon. Owners of Pokemon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon can now visit a local GameStop to receive either Palkia or Dialga. Note the “or” in “Palkia or Dialga.” Pokemon players will receive one or the other depending on the version of Pokemon Sun or Moon that they own....

Everyone who knows me personally is very understanding of the fact that I will always be a Disney fan. Their movies are classics, showing both children and adults alike that it’s okay to reach for the stars, make new friends, and embrace romance. And yet, there’s always going to be those people out there who think Disney movies are ridiculous and that it’s just a money-grabbing company. Hello? Have you seen Zootopia?...

E3 has come and gone, and while we might think of Nintendo or Xbox as the big winners, the true winner of this year’s digital event was Disney. The media conglomerate has Ubisoft Massive making both Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and a new Star Wars MMO, Square Enix making Guardians of the Galaxy, and a new Pirates of the Caribbean crossover with Rare’s Sea of Thieves. And apparently more are on the way....

So, The Division 2, huh? We already know that this sequel is coming. It’s real, it’s now, and we’ve no choice but to try and make our peace with it. The question is, what’s going on with its proposed microtransactions? Is this follow-up going to be even more controversial than the first game? The original The Division was, like a lot of unfortunate titles, a victim of its own hype. You know how it can be, with all the melodramatic trailers and super expensive advertising campaigns that the big games are subject too....

Doom Eternal is one of id Software’s biggest releases of the past few years, expanding on the concepts found in 2016’s Doom reboot with new mechanics, story elements, and a whole lot more. But one reference, in particular, remains unexplained, and as it turns out, not even the developers are entirely sure of the Easter egg’s origin, but there is a theory. During a QuakeCon at Home live stream, Doom Eternal developers discussed on of the game’s most well-hidden Easter eggs, an alligator hidden in a sewer during on of Doom Eternal’s platforming sections....

Good news - your prayers have been answered! Doom Eternal is now playable on a refrigerator. Humanity has reached a new height today with this one. It’s like, why bother building a Mars base or something lame like that? We have everything we need from life right here and now, after this massive technological advancement. We have Instagram user Richard Mallard to thank for this one. He achieved this feat by getting Microsoft’s xCloud service to run on a Samsung smart fridge, and sideloading the Xbox Game Pass app onto said fridge....

Dota 2 is one of the most popular games around, with the Valve-developed title sitting pretty as one of the standout examples of a successful MOBA game. Unfortunately, the game does not quite gel with the type of projects that Valve had historically created, and recently Half-Life fans in particular have taken to the game’s Steam review pages to vent their frustration over the lack of movement when it comes to the shooter franchise....
