Red Candle Games, the developer behind Devotion, is teasing an upcoming project and it doesn’t look like anything the developer has done before. Sorry, but we’ve got some bad news for fans of the highly anticipated second sequel to Diablo. It was revealed by Activision Blizzard’s CFO Thomas Tippl at a presentation in New York recently that we won’t be seeing the return of the series demonic antagonist for at least 2 more years. According to a slide from Tippl’s presentation depicting projected growth from Blizzard’s lineup of titles, we can expect to see the release of Starcraft II as well as Cataclysm - the next expansion in the World of Warcraft series - in 2010, but no Diablo III until at least 2011....
With the race for next-gen console supremacy set to start this holiday season, Microsoft might have an early candidate that can sway public opinion. According to Robert Karp, development director for DiRT 5 at Codemasters, the upcoming rally sequel will be able to push 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second on the Series X. An option for 120 FPS playback will also be selectable, albeit at a reduced resolution. Bethesda releases a fresh trailer featuring footage from Doom’s forthcoming closed multiplayer alpha test, showcasing the mode’s graphic, gore-soaked gameplay. id Software’s new Doom will be playable by way of a closed alpha this weekend, so today, Bethesda has posted a clip of in-game materials from the upcoming multiplayer test in order for fans to get a good feel as to what might be included. Tevinter is one of the most important settings in the Dragon Age canon, although across the three games so far, we’re yet to set foot in it. Several important characters in the series are Tevinters, including Dorian, Corypheus, Fenris, and Krem. Everything we know about Tevinter comes solely from these characters, a few others, and various storylines and lore entries. It feels like the setting has been deliberately kept at arm’s length so far, shrouded in mystery and wonderment....
During the Gamescom opening ceremony, BioWare surprisingly showcased an extensive breakdown of Dragon Age 4. The footage in question is largely a blend of developer interviews and very early test footage. We’re going to emphasize “early” here as it seems that BioWare is very much still working on Dragon Age 4 and that you shouldn’t expect to play the game for a long time. The heart of the matter, though, is that it sounds like BioWare intends for Dragon Age 4 to be a return to RPG form for the company after they’ve spent the last few years controversially working on Anthem and other titles that many felt was below their historic standards....
