Phase One of The FaZe Clan Universe begins with a big bang this fall. Already social media rock stars, the champion eSports team strategized in secret for over a year on plans to attack new media venues with Invisible Narratives, a Los Angeles entertainment production house. Earlier this month Invisible Narratives blew fans’ minds with a press release to Deadline announcing an intent to release a feature-length movie featuring Faze Clan members as soon as September.
Invisible Narratives certainly brings big-screen cred to the mix. Founded in 2018 by Adam Goodman, former president of Paramount Pictures, and Academy Award-winning producer/director Andrew Sugerman, the entertainment studio infuses “disruptive storytelling that fuels culture in partnership with people of influence.” When Invisible Narrative first approached him, FaZe Clan CEO Lee Trink said he knew Goodman “was on to something big.”
In April, FaZe Clan announced a similar-sounding collaboration with producer Michael Sugar and his Sugar23 studio. However, that venture will concurrently, but separately, develop television and film content that does not star FaZe Clan players. The FaZe Clan Universe promises to put the team on the screen.
The FaZe Clan Universe could be the first Hollywood movie premiere since the COVID-19 quarantine shut-down movie theaters and public gatherings. Rather than a traditional movie venue, The FaZe Clan Universe will play to an audience of cars at a Los Angeles drive-in theater. Event manager Jeff Beacher, CEO of Beacher Media Group (who prefers the title “Showman”) plans for an event unlike any ever seen.
The FaZe Clan, celebrity, and cast motorcade will roll over the red-carpet, not just up to it - likely blasting the Epic Records soundtrack set to release with the film. Beacher calls it a “mini festival”, promising “[i]t’s going to be a totally immersive and incredible experience. It will be one of the best experiences ever, it will be the coolest premiere of all-time.” Well aware of COVID-19’s potential cause for alarm and scrutiny, Beacher hired Dr. Robert J. Huizenga (known as “Dr. H” on The Biggest Loser TV show) to lock down any medical concerns. Beacher says he has “like a 10 page checklist” of safety procedures to protect attendees.
No word on a release of a trailer, commercial, or any other peek at what to expect on the big screen. But when something does drop, TheGamer will be there to pick it up.
