The newest installment in the Far Cry franchise has been announced and to go along with it a new animal companion — and this could be the best one of them all.
The Far Cry franchise has gone pretty much everywhere in its 14 years on the market. They’ve covered everything from pirates, deserted island, and post-nuclear disaster survival with tons of DLC and expansion packs in between. Some of the most beloved characters in this franchise include the animal companions that players can enlist to help survive and conquer. Back during Far Cry 5 the video gaming world was blessed by a bounty hunting team of animals, dubbed Fangs for Hire.
While not technically hired — because they don’t receive any payment other than belly rubs and undying affection — these five animals have a variety of skills and advantages. If a mission requires some stealth, Peaches the cougar is your go-to girl, while brute force is Cheeseburger the bear’s strength. Other critters on the team include Horatio the tanky hog, and Timber and Boomer the thieving dogs.
While Fangs for Hire are an amazing team of animals, Far Cry 6 will be shifting gears when it comes to furry companions. Rather than fearsome beasts with great teeth, claws and reputations for bad attitudes, Far Cry 6 will leave the fighting to an adorable wiener dog with two legs and a lot of spunk. Chorizo, the little sausage with wheels for back legs and bullets on his collar, is our first look at the Amigos, Far Cry 6’s version of Fangs for Hire. The art released of Chorizo’s shows him both in full battle mode and being a sweet little stubby legged companion. The cart that helps him get around could be used for weapons storage and he’s the perfect size to go straight for the Achilles tendon.
The title for the team and the release of Chorizo could mean that the Amigos will be a rag tag team of pups (amigos, man’s best friend, get it?) but that’s purely speculation, and a little bit of a dream. If Chorizo is just a first look at these new Amigos it’s very likely that Far Cry 6 could be weaponizing cuteness with more small dogs, maybe a house cat or a hamster. The sky is the limit with Far Cry, and we can’t wait to see where they go.
