In Far Cry 5, there were Guns for Hire in case you wanted a sniper or demo expert on your side, but there was also a Fans for Hire system in case you just couldn’t do without a bear for backup. Or a mountain lion. Or a dog. It was a little weird, but then again, Far Cry 5 was also a little weird.
And that weirdness is apparently getting dialed up for Far Cry 6. Fangs for Hire will return in Ubisoft’s latest shooter, and it’ll be crazier than ever.
That’s according to world director Benjamin Hall, who recently completed a Reddit AMA where and several other Far Cry 6 devs answered pressing questions about the game. One of them asked if there would be human Amigos, with Hall confirming that Far Cry 6 is going to be an all-animal affair.
“We focused on Amigos being animals for FC6, but that doesn’t mean you will always be fighting alone,” Hall replied. “Yara is full of like-minded people that want to take the fight to Castillo and bring down the regime!”
So yes, humans will play a part, but the specific companion mechanic will just let you choose between helpful critters. So far we’ve seen Chorizo the wheelchair wiener dog who can help distract soldiers with his adorable attitude, and Guapo the stylish crocodile who can literally eat people.
There’s also a third Amigo, Champagne, a white panther that will be exclusive to the Vice Pack DLC. No word on what Champagne will do, but we can assume those claws aren’t just for decoration.
More animals are likely to be revealed ahead of Far Cry 6’s release later in October, so stay tuned for more furry (and not so furry) Amigos making their debut. In the meantime, you can read all about how Far Cry 6 is going to be both political and not political simultaneously–a neat trick.
