Fantasy Flight Games has revealed the newest main character to receive the Star Wars Legion treatment, and it’s none other than senator, queen, and mother of Jedi: Padmé Amidala.
Star Wars Legion is a tabletop wargame set within the Star Wars universe. Gamers familiar with other tabletop wargames, such as Warhammer 40K, will feel right at home as they build their army and fight for survival. Legion is available in two different core box sets, each one spanning different eras, the original trilogy, and prequel trilogy respectively. A wide selection of troops, vehicles, and characters are available giving the freedom to build out armies and face off in a wide variety of scenarios. The original core box set allows players to take on the role of the Galactic Empire or Rebel Alliance, whereas the Clone Wars core set features the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance. There is also an active hobby as all miniatures and supplied unpainted and may require some assembly. Paint sets are available with official painting guides and resources on-line via the Fantasy Flight Games website.
After a turbulent history of tabletop games, the Star Wars universe has found a new hope with Fantasy Flight Games. In addition to Star Wars Legion, FFG produce the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, available in several editions it allows players to create their own heroes so they can explore and adventure in the Star Wars universe. Other games available include the popular space ship fighter game X-Wing, which is now in its second edition, and Armada that focuses on Capital class starship battles. Their first foray into miniature games was the successful dungeon crawler inspired Imperial Assault.
The upcoming Padmé Amidala character further cements their commitment to the game. The figure is available as a multi-part kit that allows for some customization. Made up of hard plastic it comes unpainted and is accompanied by six upgrade cards allowing you to further enhance her abilities in-game. You also get additional command cards for use during the game. Padmé Amidala is from the Clone Wars era and will make an excellent addition to your Galactic Republic armies.
Padmé’s release has been timed to coincide with the new Cad Bane character expansion, available in July. You can pre-order Padme Amidala through the Fantasy Flight Games Website or ask your local independent games store for more details.
