Hideo Kojima is nothing if not a cryptic game developer. The first creation to come out of his new studio, Death Stranding, was polarizing among fans, but – even if you hated the game – you have to admit there were some interesting easter eggs hiding below the surface. In fact, nearly a year after its initial release, players are still finding little details left behind by Kojima and his team.

The latest discovery was posted on the Death Stranding subreddit this weekend. It shows off a simple “Order Failed” game over screen, the screen that shows up if you destroy cargo before reaching your destination. However, the eagle-eyed player noticed something strange – if you look at just the letters with lines coming off them, they spell out the word “Dead.”

No doubt countless more secrets are hidden throughout Death Stranding, and we’re curious to know when the next easter egg will pop up.

Although the game is over a year old, it’s still hanging around in the PlayStation world thanks to various crossovers and promotional discounts. Earlier this year we saw a big Death Stranding sale on the PS Store, and Sam Porter Bridges even got a costume in Sackboy’s Big Adventure.

In other Kojima news, the studio was hiring in October for a new project. Details are still murky as to what that game is actually about, but fans were quick to fill that void with their own ideas. Most want Kojima to bring back the world of P.T. with a sequel to the classic horror game. Others think it might be a sequel to Death Stranding or a new IP entirely.

Regardless of what it is, you can rest assured it’ll have Kojima’s fingerprints all over it. Love him or hate him, the storied developer has a penchant for crafting unique titles unlike anything else on the market.

Death Stranding is now available on PS4 and backwards compatible with PS5.
