Ash better be ready, because fan-favorite gym leader Bea will be battling him with her fierce team in Episode 34 of the Pokemon Journeys anime. With this series going all over the world, it was uncertain if this Kanto Pokemon trainer would ever face her.
Bea is the fighting type gym leader from Pokemon Sword & Shield, who spawned a fanbase after her announcement in a Nintendo Direct. There’s oodles of fan art and cosplay of her across the internet.
Despite the game’s difficulty, she’s portrayed as a strong competitor and might be a tough match for Ash. The synopsis of the show that Comicbook found confirms her Episode 34 appearance, but beware, there are spoilers as to how the battle ends.
She also had her own episode of Pokémon: Twilight Wings, which shows her battling the champion Leon. But to be honest, she could probably fight Leon’s Charizard herself as she spars with her own Machamp.
Pokémon Journeys is the latest season of the long-running series. It has been going since 1997 and has been growing strong ever since. During this adventure, Ash and his new found friend Goh explore the world as research fellows for Professor Cerise. Goh’s ultimate dream is to find Mew, a mythical Pokémon he met as a little kid, and Ash, as always, wants to become a Pokémon master!
With the lack of character development in Sword & Shield, it’s nice to see some of the cast have a new life on the anime, especially Bea. In Twilight Wings, she showed a vulnerable side to her that she not often shows; hopefully, we see that in Pokemon Journeys too! If you haven’t played the game, she’s the fourth gym leader Galar trainers face on their journey to becoming Champion. She received training in martial arts since she was at a young age, and despite her fight in the game being a breeze, she has a dominating presence from her cool, hard exterior. Let’s hope she brings that intensity in the animated show!
