There are many different companions in Fallout: New Vegas, but none are as interesting as Lily. Lily is a super mutant that was turned into a Nightkin after being kidnapped from Vault 17 many years before the events of Fallout: New Vegas.

Lily always has something interesting to say about her grandchildren, and the life that she lived prior to being turned into a super mutant is very interesting. It’s easy to miss so many facts about Lily while adventuring in Fallout: New Vegas if the right dialogue options aren’t chosen.

10 Lily Formerly Lived In Vault 17

Lily lived her entire life inside of Vault 17, a relatively normal vault when compared to all of the experiments that were done on the vault dwellers of the other vaults in the Fallout franchise. Compared to vaults such as Fallout 4’s Vault 111, Vault 17 was normal, and the vault dwellers lived lives comparable to that of society before the Great War.

Although Lily was born in a vault, she lived a regular life and had a family, eventually having kids and then grandchildren. Lily’s life may not have been exceptional before she was turned into a super mutant, but it was definitely a lot more peaceful.

9 Lily’s Sword Was Created From A Crashed Vertibird Near Klamath

The sword that Lily uses during combat was created using the blade of a crashed vertibird when Lily was near Klamath.

Vertibirds are made out of strong steel, which is why Lily is so helpful in combat; her sword is incredibly powerful and is one of the deadliest weapons in Fallout: New Vegas. Although there are many makeshift weapons in the Fallout franchise, Lily’s sword is one of the most unique in any Fallout game.

8 Lily Watches Over The Bighorners In Jacobstown

The bighorners that reside in Jacob’s town are a perfect type of livestock for the super mutants. Lily does her part by tending to the bighorners’ every need, and it’s a perfect job for her since she is used to taking care of her grandchildren and possibly other children as well when she used to live inside of Vault 17.

Although bighorners are quite different from school children, Lily knows exactly how to raise them to be perfect citizens of Jacobstown.

7 Lily Gets Angry If Her HP Is Reduced To Half

When Lily loses half of her HP, she goes berserk, and she will refuse to listen to any commands that the Courier gives to her. This berserk mode is probably because Lily is a Nightkin and can become irritable if she is angry.

It is not preferable to have Lily in this mode since she will completely ignore the Courier; however, at the very least, she will fight harder to defeat the enemy and win the fight. Even though Lily becomes angry from time to time, she is still a sweet grandmother under her super mutant exterior.

6 Doctor Henry Treated Lily For Her Schizophrenia In Jacobstown

Due to being turned into a Nightkin, Lily has schizophrenia and can occasionally hear other voices in her head. However, Lily was being treated by Doctor Henry for her schizophrenia in Jacob’s Town prior to the Courier arriving.

Although Lily will continue to live as a super mutant for the rest of her life, Dr Henry was trying to help her manage her schizophrenia.

5 Lily Was Born In 2078

Lily was born in 2078 inside of Vault 17, and the reason that this is such an important detail is because it was 1 year after the Great War. Most characters that were alive around the time of the Great War are from pre-war times, so being from 2078 gives her a unique perspective.

Unfortunately, Lily can’t remember as much as she used to about her past because she was turned into a super mutant, so she will never reveal what living in a vault immediately after the Great War was like.

4 Lily Is Shorter Than Most Other Nightkin

Something strange to note about Lily is that she is shorter than the other Nightkin in Jacobstown. The most likely reason for her stature is because she is a woman and women are on average shorter than men.

However, it is possible that Lily was developed to be shorter since she is a companion character, and the developers may have wanted to give her a unique height as well. Either of these reasons are a logical possibility for why Lily is shorter than the other Nightkin in Fallout: New Vegas.

3 Lily Is One Of The Only Super Mutants That Can Remember Her Past

Lily is one of the few super mutants that can remember their past at all, and the reason for this is because of how attached she was to Vault 17 and her family. Unfortunately, most super mutants forget their pasts completely when they are transformed into a mutant.

Although Lily can remember her past, she can’t remember it as well as regular humans. Lily’s love for her grandchildren is so strong that she can remember them vividly as if she last saw them a few days ago.

2 Lily Is Much Faster Than The Courier

Lily is faster than the courier since she is a Nightkin; however, it is easy to miss her speed during the heat of combat. It can be troublesome to fight alongside Lily with her fast speed since she occasionally runs ahead of the Courier and starts fights prematurely.

Fortunately, Lily’s speed is also an advantage because it is harder for enemies to hit her while she is moving around so quickly.

1 Lily Used To Be A Super Mutant Spy

After becoming a Nightkin, Lily was a super mutant spy who would go on missions that aid the Master. It doesn’t appear that Lily enjoyed being a spy very much, and she seems to have disliked the Master a great deal.

Although Lily may not have enjoyed being a spy, she was surprisingly good at it, considering that she was a grandmother and vault dweller in her past life. Lily’s combat ability in Fallout: New Vegas is partly due to her time spent as a super mutant spy.
