Bethesda has exciting news for the eight people thinking about buying Fallout 76, as the game will be free to play this coming weekend. That’s right — starting May 14 and ending on May 18, you’ll be able to try out the most polarizing Fallout game in the series for the low, low cost of free.
All jokes aside, Fallout 76 has done a lot to gain the public’s interest. It may have started its existence as a barren wasteland, but the recent Wastelanders update brought NPCs, a new storyline, and a new reputation system. It’s still not perfect, but it’s clear that Bethesda is doing everything it can to fix the sinking ship.
Better yet, all players will get to enjoy double XP through the entirety of the event. That means folks who are just hopping in will have a decent chance to close the gap between themselves and more veteran players.
Although Fallout 76 isn’t your average Fallout game, there’s still a lot for players to enjoy. Offering a free trial is a smart move by Bethesda, as it hopes to show off all the improvements made to 76 over the past few months. It’s certainly not enough to win over everybody, but fans of the franchise will probably find something to like in the unique online title.
