The reputation system in Fallout 76 is a straightforward mechanic, but if you are having issues building reputation with your desired faction, here’s everything you need to know.
Ranking System
Two factions are affected by this social standing ranking system; Raiders and Settlers. Below are the tiers of possible reputation ranks from worst to best, along with each rank’s reputation point (RP) requirements and min-max time it takes to advance between tiers.
- Hostile: -2,000 RP Cautious: -1,000 RP Neutral: 0 RP , 3-5 days after preceding tier Cooperative: 1,000 RP, 3-5 days after preceding tier Friendly: 3,000 RP, 6-10 days after preceding tier Neighborly: 6,000 RP, 9-15 days after preceding tier Ally: 12,000 RP, 18-30 days after preceding tier
Raising Reputation
The primary way to raise your reputation with the factions is to complete specific quests, either main quests, dailies, or encounters. Each faction has its own set of quests that earn you RP with that faction. Below is a list of the quests, their type, which faction they boost, and by how much.

Notifications will tell you how much RP the completed action has earned you, while the Social menu displays your current standing with both factions. By clicking the factions it will show you how much reputation is required to rank up.
Rewards
Higher ranking with a faction opens up a wider market of goods and wares with that faction. Additionally, ranking up with a faction unlocks exclusive vendors that sell faction-themed blueprints for items. For example, Samuel is the settlers’ special trader, while Mortimer services the raiders’ community. Molly, another exclusive vendor, can be found at the raider’s base in the Crater as well. These ‘Plans’ can be bought with Gold Bullion currency.
Certain blueprints are unlocked after reaching a particular standing with either faction, which will then be available to buy from both using the Caps currency. Seek out Sunny amongst the Settlers to take a look at these blueprints. If you’re running with the raiders, ask Ae-Ri.
