Intelligence is a great special stat, and it has an important place in the Fallout franchise and especially in Fallout 4. This stat is important for crafting, dealing damage, and scavenging. Crafting has a big part to play in the perk tree for the Intelligence stat.

The Intelligence stat is more diverse in terms of perks than other stats since it focuses not only on combat perks but also has many crafting perks that are useful for building with the settlement system and upgrading your equipment. These are the best Intelligence perks that you can unlock in Fallout 4.

10 V.A.N.S. - Not Like The Shoes Sorry

V.A.T.S. is an incredibly useful mechanic; however, with the V.A.N.S. perk, it gains an extra ability. This perk allows you to see the closest quest marker, and although this is useful occasionally, it’s one of the least useful perks in the game overall.

If you want to have an easier time navigating the world, then there is some value in the V.A.N.S. perk, but most wastelanders shouldn’t bother with it if they don’t need to. This perk is particularly useful while adventuring in large cities such as Diamond City since you may have many different quests, and it can help guide you.

9 Scrapper - Great For Crafters

The Scrapper perk is one of the best perks for crafters, and if you enjoy building structures using the settlement mode. Since most of Fallout 4 takes place in combat and dialogue, this perk isn’t quite as important as the other Intelligence perks, but crafting and obtaining materials is still important.

With the Scrapper perk, you can acquire aluminum, copper, circuitry, fiberoptics, and nuclear material while scrapping armor and weapons. The second stage of this perk also highlights items with your favorite components. The best way to collect materials is with the Scrapper perk.

8 Gun Nut - Not For Those With Bullet Allergies

Gun Nut is a simple perk, but one that has an important purpose in Fallout 4. Gun Nut grants access to 4 separate stages of upgrades that you can create at a crafting table, mostly for guns.

Weapon upgrades are important if you want to increase your damage and if you’re interested in trying out different ways of dealing additional damage. There are better Intelligence perks, but Gun Nut has its place in Fallout 4.

7 Chemist - Chems, Chems, Chems

Chemist allows your chems to last up to 200 percent longer at its final stage. This is very powerful if you regularly use chems during combat. Chems such as jet benefit greatly from Chemist, and it also makes combat more enjoyable in many situations.

There are 4 stages of this perk and it’s worth spending multiple perk points if you use chems a lot. However, most players don’t use chems regularly which is why it isn’t in the top few Intelligence perks.

6 Science! - Good News Everyone!

Science is similar to the Gun Nut perk because its main purpose is upgrading equipment with crafting tables; however, it also opens up many new settlement items that you can craft. There are a lot of new upgrades that you can also craft for power armor with the Science perk. The equipment type that benefits the most from this perk is energy weapons since many of their upgrades require the Science perk to craft.

The Science perk has 4 stages, and each of them unlocks new upgrades. Crafters should consider the Science perk a must-unlock, especially if you use laser weapons as your primary weapon type.

5 Nuclear Physicist - But Like, The Fallout Kind

4 Nerd Rage - Actually…

Nerd Rage is an incredibly powerful perk because it grants many bonuses when you reach below twenty percent health. The first stage of this perk grants a damage bonus and damage resistance while also slowing time for a few seconds.

Each stage of the Nerd Rage perk grants a higher bonus, and you also get extra health back per enemy defeated once you unlock the third tier. Nerd Rage is one of the strongest combat perks in Fallout 4, and every build can benefit from unlocking it since these bonuses aren’t exclusive to any specific combat type.

3 Hacker - “I’m In”

Hacker grants you the ability to unlock terminals that are locked with advanced passcodes. Initially, you can only unlock the basic type of terminal; however, each stage of this perk allows you to unlock a higher level of security.

Terminals are scattered all over the Commonwealth, and there is at least one located in each building throughout the large open world. Terminals are essential if you are a completionist since they often offer information about the world and extra ways to complete quests.

2 Robotics Expert - Control Them All

Robotics Expert adds the unique ability to control, turn off, and explode robots. With this perk, you can technically turn any robot into your follower temporarily, and that’s very fun.

With the first stage of the Robotics expert, you can only turn robots off and blow them up, but once you unlock the third stage, you can fully control robots which is one of the strongest abilities to have in the advanced world of Fallout 4.

1 Medic - Stim, Stim, Stim
