The DLC of Fallout 4 has a lot of interesting characters that the Sole Survivor can interact with, and a lot of them were even more complex than the main characters in the base game of Fallout 4. Some DLC characters were present during sidequests, and some were more relevant to the main story of the expansion packs; however, all of them have personalities that are very unique compared to the average character in the base game.
DLC characters in Fallout 4, such as Avery and Porter Gage, have backstories that the player gets to explore during the expansion packs, and all of them are very unique in terms of their personalities.
10 Avery
Avery is the leader of the Far Harbor settlement that the player will encounter when first arriving on the island in the Far Harbor DLC. Avery quickly became a fan-favorite character because she was level-headed and provided a somewhat opposite view of some of the more rash citizens of Far Harbor. Avery is revealed to be a synth that secretly replaced another inhabitant of Far Harbor.
Avery also gives the players many different quests to complete while on the Island, which will allow the player to collect some interesting rewards such as a Diving Suit.
9 Old Longfellow
Old Longfellow is a new companion that was introduced with the Far Harbor DLC, and his mellow attitude combined with his knowledge of the Island gave the player a fascinating new companion to travel with during the DLC. Old Longfellow is a very wise individual.
While traveling with Old Longfellow, the player may get a quest when they reach a certain affinity with this companion that will have the two adventures tracking down a powerful creature known as Shipbreaker, and this is one of the hardest challenges in all of Fallout 4.
8 Ada
Ada is the main robot companion that the player will get to customize in the Automatron DLC. Although Ada is generally just a regular robot, she does have some unique dialogue that none of the other robots in the DLC have. The player will first encounter Ada at the beginning of the DLC when her Creator is killed.
Ada’s backstory is very sad, and it shows that even though robots may not be able to feel emotions in the same way as humans, they do have some form of circuitry that will allow them to mourn the loss of a friend.
7 Sierra Petrovita
Sierra Petrovita first showed up in Fallout 3, and she made a reappearance in the Nuka-World DLC, where players got to complete a quest that this character gives to them.
Unlike some of the more static characters in Fallout 4 in terms of personality, Sierra is actually one of the most unique NPCs that players get a chance to interact with it in the entire game. The main reason that Sierra is so fascinating is because she has an obsession with Nuka-Cola and will do anything to find its creator.
6 Valery Barstow
Valery Barstow is the main character that players interact within the Vault-Tec DLC, and although she doesn’t have quite as much dialogue as some of the other characters in the expansion packs of the game, she has one of the funniest personalities and is overall a joy to interact with.
Valery Barstow was the original Overseer of Vault 88, and she helps guide the player through creating their own vault and running experiments on the settlers that show up to the settlement.
5 Jezebel
Jezebel is first encountered in the Fort Hagen Hangar during the main quest line of the Automatron DLC, and this character is also a robot, much like Ada. However, Jezebel is a Robobrain.
Jezebel is not willing to help the player at first; however, after some convincing, she will be willing to share information and help the player find the Mechanist’s location. Jezebel is a hilarious character, and most players got a chuckle out of the dialogue that she has.
4 Porter Gage
Porter Gage is found inside of the Nuka-World park, and he is the only companion in the final expansion pack of the game. Porter Gage is a raider that ran away from home when he was young because he didn’t want to be as weak as his parents, which means that he has one of the saddest backstories in the entire game.
Porter Gage will initially come off as a heartless character; however, players will find out that he does have a heart if they gain affinity with this companion while traveling with him in the park. Furthermore, Porter Gage is one of the only characters in the Nuka-World DLC that has a lot of dialogue since there are many characters in Nuka-World that are only interacted with a few times.
3 Oswald The Outrageous
Oswald the Outrageous is a ghoul living in Nuka-World inside of the Kiddie Kingdom park. Oswald is a fascinating character from a biological standpoint because he is not feral; however, he has taken in so much radiation that he has become a glowing one.
Oswald the Outrageous was irradiated alongside many of his co-workers, which is one of the main reasons that he stays and defends Kiddie Kingdom with his life. Although Oswald acknowledges that feral ghouls are hostile to humans, he believes that they could potentially be turned back into humans through some form of medicine.
2 The Mechanist
The Mechanist, also known as Isabel Cruz, is the main antagonist of the Automatron DLC, and players first got to encounter a variant of this character in Fallout 3, although it was technically a different person.
The return of the Mechanist in the Automatron DLC brought a lot of nostalgia back for players that had fond memories of fighting the mechanist in Fallout 3. The Mechanist is a very tough enemy to fight because she sends waves of robots after the player. The Mechanist believes that what she is doing is correct, but it is revealed that she lacks information and doesn’t realize that the robots that she is sending into the wasteland are killing people.
1 DiMA
DiMA is a rare variant of Synth created by the Institute that is very similar to in design to Nick Valentine, a companion from the base game of Fallout 4. DiMA presents the player with many moral difficulties throughout the Far Harbor expansion pack, including the idea that the player may actually be a synth themselves. DiMA actually has a lot of history with Nick Valentine, which is revealed during the main quest line of the DLC.
DiMA is the leader of Acadia, a synth settlement on the Island that is dedicated to saving synths that escape from the Institute. One very interesting part of DiMA’s personality is the fact that he dislikes the railroad because they wipe Synth’s memories.
