Now that the Fall Guys 2 Release Date has been revealed, the developers at Mediatonic are hoping to build excitement heading into that all-important launch. Obviously, showing off the new Season 2 tracks and skins has been a solid way of doing that, but the devs also want to get players back as early as possible.
In an effort to entice players back to Fall Guys, Mediatonic has announced that there will be a Double Fame period from now until the Season 2 launch on October 8th. Any Fame that players earn during their Fall Guys matches will contribute towards their Season 1 Battle Pass and help them unlock the various goodies that are included with it.
It’s important to point out that Fame is not the same as Kudos in Fall Guys. Kudos is the purple currency that is used to purchase most of the skins from the Fall Guys store. Players earn a specific amount of Kudos based on their performance in the Episode, and if they win all rounds, they earn a Crown, which is another type of currency. Crowns are the goal in Fall Guys, but Kudos can also help with accumulating new looks for a player’s character.
Alongside the Kudos and the potential Crown, players will earn a certain amount of Fame for each Fall Guys Episode they complete. Fame rewards can vary much like Kudos and are also influenced by the player’s performance in the rounds. Fame is useful for no other reason than completing the Battle Pass included with each Fall Guys season, so for those that have already hit rank 40, this Double Fame period is unlikely to do anything for them.
However, much like a Double XP weekend in Call of Duty, the point of something like Double Fame is to encourage lapsed players to come back at a time when a game needs to build hype. In the case of Fall Guys, Mediatonic wants to get players back onto the courses so that they will be more interested in firing up the game when Season 2 comes around.
Double Fame will also help players unlock whatever skins, emotes, and cosmetics they may be missing from the Battle Pass, which could be a huge draw for completionists. Not to mention, there is a Fall Guys Ps4 Trophy for hitting rank 40 on the Battle Pass for any season, so this Double Fame period will make that goal a lot easier.
