Fable is a franchise that grew quickly into popularity and then just stopped. The franchise’s last game was a game for the Kinect, that didn’t really sell all that well. Since then, fans have wondered and hoped that the quirky series would make a proper return for the Xbox One.

Now that the generation is winding down, though, players have begun to look at the Series X as a great platform to revive the series on. This is even more paramount as the Xbox needs a great arsenal of games to steal back players from Sony and make good sales for this upcoming generation.

10 We Need a Bit of Humor

One thing that really stands out about this franchise is how humorous it can be, especially compared to other RPGs. While Fable does have some serious moments, the game never takes its self too seriously.

The story content can be humorous, and that’s a nice break from the dark worlds that most folklore based games throw at us.

9 The Games Sold Well

Fable had its fanbase, and there is no doubt that if you owned a 360 you’ve at the very least seen Fable 2. The third and last mainline installment in the series garnered over 900,000 preorders and has sold over three million units. Fable 2 is one of the best selling 360 games of all time.

The series, especially now, would be a huge seller that players would gladly buy upon release.

8 It’s a Great Introductory RPG

One of the things about Fable is that it never throws in heavy RPG elements, but the system it does have feels good. For gamers who might be leery of the system heavy worlds, Fable can be a great introduction into lighter RPG systems for newer gamers, or ones use to only certain genres.

The classic game made games like Oblivion much more accessible.

7 You Can Marry Everyone

While no one is going to recommend you do this, you can marry everyone. This doesn’t mean there is a selected list of candidates or that gay marriage is ok. You can literally marry an NPC walking down the street regardless of gender or your previous marriages.

This is pretty inclusive for the time, and while you are punished if your spouses find out, who doesn’t want to marry random NPCs.

6 The Good/Evil System

One feature that players continue to love in games is a good and evil system. These systems allow players to make choices based on every in-game action. For example, your world will literally start to look darker if you decide to kill the whole town. You may even get a set of devil horns to go with your character.

On the other hand, if you donate to the homeless, you will have a bright, welcoming world.

5 Transforming Your Own Kingdom

The good and evil system went deep. There are a ton of choices you make throughout the story of the game that will alter the world. For example, there is even a story element that will drain your character’s youth and leave them forever, looking old. This is, of course, if you sacrifice yourself.

On the other hand, you could save yourself and keep looking beautiful.

4 Verifying Reaver is Still Alive

Reaver is one of the most loved/hated characters in the series. He is pretty much considered to be immortal, but only if he keeps making sacrifices over the years. While players probably don’t want to see Reaver disappear from the franchise, the option to stop him would be nice.

He is a reoccurring character that could become an interesting choice in the plot.

3 Overpowered Magic

These games make players feel truly overpowered. When you start to unlock the higher-powered magic, you start to truly feel powerful. You can unleash massive fields of magic that cut through your opponents in a matter of seconds, and it looks cool.

Your character truly feels like the destined hero by the end of these games, and players love it.

2 The Online Play

One of the first games with completely fluid online play was Fable 2. Players could enter their friends’ worlds, go on missions, flirt with NPCs, or even destroy their friend’s peaceful world. This fluid gameplay was new at the time and delighted players.

With the current online abilities of gaming consoles, we can only imagine how much farther the series can go.

1 The Side Quests

From bailing brothers out of trouble to buying your own palace, this series was loaded down with side quests. There were also hidden secrets everywhere, like the smug gargoyles who mock the player from a distance as they approach. This helped players keep playing even after they beat the game.

There was never a lack of content in the quirky series, and players would love to explore the world of Fable once more.
