The Japanese development company Experience Inc is porting Stranger of Sword City to the Nintendo Switch, and releasing a new title to go with it: Savoir of Sapphire Wings.

Experience Inc. is known for a variety of turn-based RPG titles, like Demon Gaze and Operation Abyss. Given the popularity of the Switch, Experience Inc. is looking to re-release some of their older titles in an effort to capitalize on that popularity.

According to Destructoid, Experience Inc. is looking to release Stranger of Sword City Revisited alongside a new title Saviors of Sapphire Wings for both the Switch and PC. When players purchase Saviors of Sapphire Wings they’ll receive the classic title for free.

The new title is set 100 years after mankind is defeated by the Overlord of Darkness. The player is a fallen hero who returns to band together with other allies to dive into dungeons, defeat powerful monsters, and vanquish this evil.

It’s unclear if the new title is tied in someway to the events of Stranger of Sword City. In the classical title the player is onboard a plane that crashes through a dimensional rift into a hostile world. They’re destiny is to defeat the Lineage monsters plaguing the land with the aid of other stranded survivors and find a way home.

The Revisted port will have content not seen in the previous title. This newly introduced content will include things like further character creation options, new gear, and in-game events.

While there isn’t an official release date, the developers have stated it’s slated for a 2021 release, so fans are in for a bit of a wait. The dungeon crawling RPGs seem to be a perfect fit for the Switch with its turn based combat and hexagonal exploration gameplay. Both titles are likely to draw the attention of both old and new fans to the series.
