Evil Geniuses are back and better than ever after their latest rebranding, in which they developed a new logo, new jerseys, and acquired a new sponsor in LG UltraGear. Last year, Evil Geniuses developed and put out a new logo for the world to see. This new logo featured simple text-art that stated, “Evil Geniuses.” Suffice it to say, this logo was not received well by the public and people demanded that they return to their old logo.
Evil Geniuses (EG) have heard the fans and have moved forward on a complete rebrand. Sticking with the theme of “evil,” EG has designed a brand new logo and jerseys for its players to wear and fans to purchase.
Evil Geniuses’ rebrand design choice is fairly simple and elegant. Closely resembling their old design, it’s clear to see that Evil Geniuses listened to their fans and returned to its roots. The design is not the exact same as previous iterations, however, as the logo appears to be sharper and more fluid; symbolizing that EG is moving forward, but remembering the past as they do.
Along with the new logo, EG decided to completely revamp its jerseys. Now titled the “Anti-Hero jersey,” EG looked to design a jersey that would encompass both the past and future of EG and the players that wear them. Sporting two contrasting colors, black and white, this EG jersey looks both elegant and sleek. Compared to last year’s design, this rebrand is heavily focused on the phrase “less is more,” at least in terms of logo placement, as this year’s design pushes the new logo to top left of the jersey, rather than forcing it to be the center of focus.
Andy “ANDA” Hoang tweeted out this picture the day after EG announced its rebranding and Anti-Hero jersey lineup. The tweet gives fans and onlookers a better look into both the quality of the jersey and the look of it when it’s not a computer-generated image.
It is here on the back of the jersey where we get to see the new sponsor that EG acquired, which as previously mentioned is LG UltraGear. LG UltraGear is a division of LG, a technology company. The purpose of this division is to develop gaming hardware (mainly high-end gaming monitors). This sponsorship now means that EG is sponsored by both Razer Gaming and LG UltraGear, which are two gaming hardware companies with very similar goals, “to design the best gaming hardware possibly”.
What this new sponsorship means is that Evil Geniuses and its players will now be primed and ready to begin playing games professionally from home on new LG UltraGear monitors, until COVID-19 ends and the team can return to playing in stadiums.
Overall, Evil Geniuses hit the jackpot with this rebranding, as not only was it able to rectify past choices and logo-designs, but it was also able to secure a massive sponsorship in LG UltraGear. So who knows - maybe this rebranding was what Evil Geniuses needed. Maybe this year they will win big.
