Pokémon GO’s Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh Throwback events have now come to an end, which just leaves the Throwback Challenge Champion Event left to go.
Pokémon GO has been running Throwback Events throughout May, each one celebrating a different region from Pokémon’s past. Kanto kicked things off in week one, which was followed by Johto, then Hoenn, and finally Sinnoh this past week. That just leaves the Unova region, and although it won’t be getting a Throwback Event of its very own, it will be celebrated next week.
Unova will be sharing the spotlight with Galar for the Throwback Challenge Champion Event. It starts at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, and will come to an end at 1 pm on Monday, June 8, 2020. Trainers who completed every level of research for all four previous Throwback Events will be able to participate. Trainers who didn’t manage to do that can take part by buying a ticket from the in-game store for $7.99.
As for what awaits during this final Throwback Event, quite a lot, even though it will be 48 hours shorter than the previous four events. Unova-based Pokémon will spawn far more frequently, as has been the case for the other Throwback Events and their respective Pokémon. While not confirmed, expect to see a lot of Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott popping up.
Galarian versions of Meowth and Stunfisk will also be making their Pokémon GO debuts alongside the more frequent Unova spawns. The new additions can be found via encounters through research that will be activated when the event begins, but can also be hatched from 7 km eggs. Galarian variations of Zigzagoon and Darumaka will also be available exclusively via 7 km eggs.
Other than Galarian versions of Pokémon that originate from other regions, trainers will also have the chance to earn Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Blitzle, Audino, Darumaka, Gothita, and Genesect through encounters earned by completing research tasks. Professor Willow’s glasses will also be up for grabs for use on trainers’ avatars, if that’s something they should so desire. Those who buy a ticket will have access to extra research, whether they have completed the previous four Throwback Events or not.
