VALORANT’s 11th Agent has been announced, and oh boy, is she a doozy.
There isn’t much official information about Reyna, but from what we can gather from her 30-second gameplay trailer, she hails from Mexico, appreciates a good meal, and is probably a vampire. While that last bit isn’t too much of an eye-opener in a game where Phantom, Phoenix, and Sage exist, it certainly does cast her abilities in a new light.
VALORANT’s gameplay video doesn’t explicitly outline Reyna’s abilities, but there appear to be four important ones. One of them allows Reyna to heal herself after killing an enemy. Her shouting “More, more!” and “Give me your heart!” while healing up implies that she’s probably feeding off her defeated opponents, who drop floating shadow orbs when Reyna kills them.
This healing ability seems to be two-sided, as the video shows Reyna activating a “combat stim” buff with the voice line, “They will cower!” While there will presumably be a catch to balance these abilities, she appears to be able to heal while her combat buff is active, allowing her to regain HP and deal greater damage all at once. Unlike the rest of us, Reyna’s probably more herself when she’s hangry.
However, the highlight of her gameplay teaser has to be her free ability. Reyna chucks a shadowy orb that can pass through walls while shouting, “See nothing!” The orb then becomes a hovering eye, and looking closely at the enemies Reyna guns down will show that they have a miniature version of it floating over their heads. Based on her voice line, we can assume the eye has some kind of blinding effect, though the video gives no indication of its range or duration.
Additionally, the shadow orbs that Reyna’s defeated enemies drop seem to have some kind of timer that ticks down rapidly. Reyna isn’t shown to pass through the orbs during the gameplay video and we don’t get to see what happens when the orbs time out, but based on Reyna’s whole vampire schtick it can be presumed that they offer fuel for her abilities.
Reyna’s last ability is her ultimate, Empress. What it actually does is a mystery as she isn’t shown to use it in the gameplay video, but like everything else in her kit it probably ties into her whole vamp-ish dommy mommy persona.
VALORANT officially drops June 2nd, and Miss Reyna will likely make her official debut not long after.
