9 Falchion
The falchion is the two handed heavy of this game. It is slow, powerful, and has a wide arc. Since the game throws out a lot of enemies at once, this can be useful for groups. However, there are better weapons to counteract these mobs and at the end of the day the falchion is just too slow for normal cannon fodder or even bosses.
8 Longbow
The longbow then is the slow equivalent in the ranged department. As the name might suggest, it does have the best range in terms of distance in Foregone.
If one is far enough away, where enemies can’t hit, the longbow is a good way to pick them off. However, enemies can often close the distance quickly so this opportunity is more often than not fleeting.
7 Pistol
The pistol is the basic ranged weapon in the game. It’s a standard weapon that has low power but a big magazine. It can take out small enemies like the weird bug looking things that shoot spikes or poison gas, but the pistol will not be great against more humanoid opponents, or bosses. The accuracy, ammo, and speed make it better than the longbow overall.
6 Gunchucks
If one thought Squall’s gunblade in Final Fantasy VIII was silly well then get a load of these gunchucks. As the name should suggest, these are nunchaku with guns attached. They are pretty fast and pack a mean punch thanks to the explosive combo finisher. That said, there are faster twin weapons in the game along with weapons that offer more firepower in the explosive department. They may not be the best weapons in the game but they sure are a cool idea.
5 Burst Rifle
This is basically a rifle that shoots in bursts of three. However, it doesn’t fire like a typical assault rifle burst in something like Call of Duty. It’s a more futuristic gun than that that seemingly takes an extra second to fire its rounds. In this way it can be likened more to a Gatling gun. Technicalities aside, the speed and distance are decent as is the round capacity. It won’t be as good in the field with enemies spawning all over, but this will be the gun to use in boss battles guaranteed.
4 Shortsword
The shortsword covers a medium distance with a similar arc style to the falchion, but shorter. That said it is much faster than that. Plus the game seemingly favors this weapon the most as they drop a lot. Even though there may be better weapons that this article recommends, there’s no shame in using a shortsword as the main weapon if Foregone grants a powerful piece. As it was said in the intro, randomness plays a big part in one’s load out.
3 Daggers
As teased earlier, these daggers are also a twin set of weapons similar to the gunchucks. They do not, however, finish with an explosion. Their combos involve lightning fast speeds with aerial spins, making it a good defensive weapon.
The mid combo spin attack will make the player into a whirling pin cushion that will slice enemies to pieces. The one issue with them is that their distance of attack is extremely close.
2 Spear
The best melee weapon in the game is the spear. It has the speed and the range to best out out everything that came before it. It’s on par with the shortsword in terms of power and slightly slower than the daggers in terms of speed. The range is the real key winner here, giving players an advantage on distance which is a good defensive maneuver.
1 Shotgun
Like the best shotguns in any game, like in Doom, the shotgun in Foregone is overpowered. Its range is short, but the spread-shot is still devastating enough that it has about a medium distance of accessibility. The closer one is though the more powerful the blasts will become. It may not have the best range and ammo is extremely limited, but it will will cut through waves of enemies which is very important when surrounded.
