Pokémon Gold & Silver introduced Baby Pokémon to the series. This might have been Game Freak’s worst ever idea. Baby Pokémon have terrible stats and are usually a pain to evolve. This is topped off by the fact that Pichu might be the worst Super Smash Bros. character of all time. Here are all of the cursed Baby Pokémon that were introduced in different generations.
16 Hitomanchan/Hitmonlee > Tyrogue
You could evolve a Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, or a Hitmontop from a Tyrogue in Pokémon Gold & Silver. It all depends on how equal its stats are.
15 Mr. Mime > Mime Jr.
The creepy guy who lives in Ash’s house received a pre-evolution in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl.
14 Marill > Azurill
The original Pikablu itself received a Baby Pokémon in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire.
13 Chansey > Happiny
Chansey received a new Baby Pokémon form in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. You need to use an Oval Stone in order to make Happiny evolve.
12 Sudowoodo > Bonsly
The dancing fake tree Pokémon received a Baby Pokémon form in Diamond & Pearl. It needs to know Mimic before it can evolve.
11 Roselia > Budew
Roselia gained a new Baby Pokémon form in Diamond & Pearl. Budew requires a high friendship stat in order to evolve.
10 Chimecho > Chingling
Chimecho is one of the most annoying Pokémon to catch in Ruby & Sapphire. Pokémon Diamond & Pearl introduced a Baby form that you can evolve by raising its friendship stat.
9 Clefairy > Cleffa
Clefairy gained a Baby Pokémon form in Diamond & Pearl. All three members of the Clefairy family changed into Fairy-types in Pokémon X & Y.
8 Electabuzz > Elekid
Electabuzz received a lot of love in the later Pokémon games. It received a Baby form in Gold & Silver and a new evolution in Diamond & Pearl.
7 Jigglypuff > Igglybuff
The Baby Pokémon form of Jigglypuff was probably intended to be cute, but it’s actually pretty disturbing. It has blood red eyes that stare into your soul.
6 Magmar > Magby
Magmar received a lot of love in the later Pokémon games. It received a Baby form in Gold & Silver and a new evolution in Diamond & Pearl. This was a thank you from all of the breeders for its Flame Body Ability.
5 Mantine > Mantyke
Mantine gained a Baby Pokémon form in Diamond & Pearl. Mantyke can only evolve if you level it up while you have a Remoraid in your party.
4 Snorlax > Munchlax
Snorlax gained a Baby Pokémon form in Diamond & Pearl. Anyone who bought Pokémon Sun & Moon around the time of their release could download one of these for free. It came with a Snorlium Z stone.
3 Pikachu > Pichu
Pikachu received a Baby Pokémon form in Gold & Silver. Most fans hate Pichu because of how much its stats suck and for how terrible it was in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
2 Jynx > Smoochum
The most controversial Pokémon of all time received a Baby Pokémon form in Gold & Silver. Game Freak made sure to lighten its skin tone to avoid more controversy.
1 Wobbufet > Wynaut
Wobbuffet received a Baby Pokémon form in Ruby & Sapphire. You only need to make it reach level 15 to make Wynaut evolve into Wobbuffet.
