Enemy Skills are a neat mechanic in Final Fantasy 7 that gives players a ton of customizability and versatility with their characters. Essentially when a hero has an Enemy Skill Materia equipped and they are targeted by an enemy spell they can learn that spell and use it going forward.
There are a total of 24 Enemy Skills that can be acquired and tracking them all down can be a little rough. Hopefully, this guide will make the process a little easier by pointing you in the right direction.
24 Matra Magic
Matra Magic does non-elemental damage to all enemies on the opposing team and costs eight MP. It’s learned from Custom Sweeper, Bullmotor, and Death Machine enemies. These can be found in Midgar Area, Corel Prison, and Junon Path.
23 L4 Suicide
This skill causes critical/small damage to enemies with levels that are a multiple of four (4, 8, and 20 for instance). The only enemies that know this skill are Mu and Trickplay which can be found in the Grasslands Area and Forgotten City, specifically the Icicle Area.
22 Chocobuckle
This skill costs three MP to cast and deal non-elemental damage to one opponent. It’s a skill used by the level 16 Chocobo and the level 36 Chocobo. These are found in the Chocobo Ranch Area and the Mideel Area. Remember you’ll need a Chocobo Lure Materia to find them.
21 Flame Thrower
This is a strong spell that costs 10 MP and deals fire elemental damage to a single target. Arkdragons and Dragons are the only enemies that use this skill and they’re found in the Mythril Mine and Mt. Nibel.
20 Laser
Laser is a skill that costs 16 MP and drops an single enemy’s HP by half which makes it a powerful skill to have. The two enemies that use it are Death Claws and Dark Dragons. These are found in the Corel Prison and Northern Cave respectively.

With 34 MP Aqualung will deal water damage to all opponents. The Harpy, Jenova LIFE, and the Serpent all use this skill. These enemies can be found in the Corel Prison, Ancient capital, and the Cargo Room in the Crashed Gelnika.
While the Jenova LIFE is easiest to find considering it’s a mandatory boss encounter you’d probably be better off manipulating a Harpy.
17 White Wind
White Wind is great for healers as it restores the HP and status of every ally on the team for 34 MP. Zemzeletts use this skill and Wind Wing also has it. Zemzelett is easier as it can be manipulated to cast it. You’ll find these creatures in the Junon area and Whirlwind Maze.
16 Beta
For 35 MP Beta will deal fire damage to all enemies. The only creature that knows this skill is the Midgard Zolom found in the Grasslands Marsh Area. This creature cannot be manipulated and you can be ejected from battle so be patient and you might have to try a few times.
15 Frog Song
Frog Song can turn an enemy into a frog or change them back and put them to sleep for five MP. The Touch Me, Toxic Frog, and Christopher enemies know this skill. You can find them in the Gongaga Forest, Temple of Ancients, or the Northern Cave. Christopher is least recommended as he doesn’t appear until the end of the game.
14 Death Sentence
This skill deals heavy damage and inflicts the target with Infirmity. The Sneaky Step, Gi Specter, and Bound Flat enemies use this skill. They can be found in the Cave of the Gi and Corel Valley.
13 ????
This skill costs three MP and will deal damage equal to the caster’s max HP. The Jerset and Behemoth enemies have this skill and will randomly use it, keep in mind if Jersey transforms he will no longer have access to this skill. They can be found in the Shinra Mansion and Sector 8 respectively.
12 Trine
This spell does lightning damage to all opponents for 20 MP. It’s tricky to obtain as only the tough bosses Materia Keeper and Godo use it as well as Stilvas which can be cut off forever once you leave the area they’re found. They’re found in Mt. Nibel, Wutai Pagoda, and inside Gaea’s Cliff. Make sure you’re ready in each encounter or you’ll lose the chance to get this skill forever.
11 Death Force
Death Force costs three MP and will make an ally immune to death. The only enemy that uses this skill is the Adamantaimai found on the Wutai shoreline making it an easy skill to pick up and useful in the early game.
10 Magic Hammer
For three MP Magic Hammer will drain 100 MP from every opponent. It’s a skill used exclusively by the Razor Weed found in the Wutai Area.
9 Bad Breath
Bad Breath is a crazy spell that for 58 MP can cause Poison, Confusion, Sleep, Silence, and turn an enemy into a Frog for all enemies. Marlboro is the only enemy that knows this and can be a pain to learn given you have to willingly have it cast this on your team. It’s found in Gaea’s Cliff or the Northern Cave.
8 Magic Breath
Magic Breath can cause Fire, Ice, and Lightning damage on all opponents for 75 MP. The two enemies that use this skill are the Stilva and the Parasite. Stilva can be found Inside Gaea’s Cliff though you’ll lose access to this area if you leave. Parasites are found Inside Northern Cave.
7 Goblin Punch
This skill doesn’t cost any MP and does non-elemental damage to a single opponent. It’s used by the Goblins that are found on Goblin Island. It’s not terribly useful, but you may as well collect it for bragging rights.
6 Shadow Flare
This skill deals incredible non-elemental damage to a single opponent and costs a whopping 100 MP. It’s also tough to obtain as only the bosses Ultima Weapon, Ruby Weapon, and Dragon Zombie use it. These are found in the Near Cosmo Canyon, Corel Desert, and Northern Cave respectively. Ultima Weapon is probably the easiest to get it from.
5 Dragon Force
This skill costs 19 Mp and raises the Defense and Magic Defense of a single ally. It’s used by the Dark Dragon which is found in the Northern Cave.
