Gundams are pretty tough, yeah? They’re giant walking weapons, with smaller-but-still-massive weapons attached to them. You don’t get much more intimidating than bipedal robots with WMDs strapped to them.

But even the iconic mechs aren’t immune to some things - and that includes the horrific pandemic sweeping the world. As Anime News Network reports, the Evolving G program has delayed the debut of its walking 59 foot Gundam. It was due to be unveiled sometime in July, but the date has been postponed. The official reveal is still set to happen sometime in 2020, but no exact date has been set.

The initiative to get a massive bipedal robot suit moving started way back in 2014 - a much simpler time for us all. Since then, a crack team of engineers, sculptors, and artists has been hard at work making this dream come true. Now, it’s so close that we can all taste it, but the unfortunate state of the world has forced the wait a little longer.

Is our global suffering actually a bio-terror attack courtesy of Zeon? Who’s to say, really. But the fact remains that we’ll have to wait just a little longer to see a life-size Gundam move, and to all be in collective awe at the size of the lad.

Here’s hoping some wise guy doesn’t decide to try and replicate a full-scale colony drop next.
