The patch notes for the upcoming Escape From Tarkov 12.7 update reveal a variety of rousing changes and additions to the game, including new weapons, enemies and an expanded Customs map. The expansion will increase the size of the map by around 30% by exposing a new area south of the construction site and opening previously locked buildings.
Escape From Tarkov is set in the Norvinsk region in Northwestern Russia, where a war has broken out between two private military companies — United Security and BEAR. The new map expansion will be familiar to Tarkov fans given its run-down industrial infrastructure complete with damaged buildings and heavy artillery.
In the new patch, Shoreline will have a new enemy scav boss, Sanitar, a former doctor, who uses his talent to heal himself and other AI scavs and enhance their performance with new combat stims. Players have access to these new stims, which at times can be detrimental to their own physical condition. As an example, the new “obdolbos cocktail” will afford superior sprint and jump speeds but not without long-term negative side effects.
AI scavs will be able to join together and overtake players, rather than simply be sniper targets. They will also loot corpses, including players killed, which means that players with high tier gear could be assailed and their gear can be used against them. This changes the dynamic of the game since scavs were previously sitting ducks, however, they’ll now be fierce opponents.

Other new additions to Escape From Tarkov include new weapons and ammo, including a portable single-shot handheld grenade launcher, the FN GL40, which will have five different types of high-explosive rounds and a buckshot shell. The powerful new weapons will be capable of eliminating entire squads of geared players in a single shot.
Finally, the patch will feature new ammunition variants for .45 ACP and .366 guns, making them more practical, as well as, strength and endurance enhancements that will allow players to run faster, jump higher and carry greater loads.
