Post-apocalyptic survival city-builder Endzone: A World Apart recently added in its ninth major Early Access update, titled the Livestock Update. As the name implies, the update shepherds in four new animal species, along with two new buildings, two new Hunting Lodge modes, new kitchen recipes, a new tutorial, and the usual host of improvements and bug fixes.
Endzone has been in Early Access since April 2020, and already it’s a challenging and expertly-growing game, and promises to be well worthy of your gaming time once it fully launches. These regular major updates are one primary reason why, with another being how developer Gently Mad Studios and publisher Assemble Entertainment are listening to their gamer base, taking their comments and criticisms to heart to improve Endzone.
From the start, you’ve been able to hunt in Endzone, but up until now, wildlife has been sparse, making it the better option to rely on growing crops for the bulk of food to feed your survivors with. The Livestock updates now offer four more animals into the game - buffalos, chickens, goats, and hares - that you can not only hunt for, but can also now catch to raise for an ongoing food source. And the new animals don’t just add new varieties of meat to your survivor’s menus, but eggs and milk, as well.
There’s a new tutorial that walks you through all the new features of the Livestock Update, including hunting, catching, and raising animals on the new Pasture building. The Hunting Lodge has been upgraded with two new work modes, and each map will randomly select which two animals are available to hunt in the wild. The other animals will still be available via trade. With producing food covered, the tutorial also shows new ways to distribute food out to your survivors with the new Food Counter building. New food sources mean new recipes to whip up in the kitchens, including cake and stew.
Endzone has still more additional content and improvements to make during the month of December, and you can glimpse what those are on the dev’s official Early Access Roadmap.
