The Elder Scrolls franchise is a massive world created and continually expanded upon by Bethesda since 1994’s Elder Scrolls Arena. The series is brimming with numerous regions and species. One of the most unique races is the Khajiit, catlike people who typically talk about themselves in the third person.
They have a reputation for being thieves and are looked down upon particularly in Skyrim. Regardless of the truth or fiction surrounding this stereotype, fans cannot help but love them, mostly due to their similarity to felines. The ten memes below show just how beloved they are by the Elder Scrolls fan community.
10 Then What Is The Point Of Fur?
Khajiit are completely covered in fur, yet one will find a couple who complain about the elements in Skyrim. Even cats succumb to the cold, but it is difficult to believe the region is so cold their fur does not protect them. Maybe they are like cats crying for food at any time of the day. They are not really cold; they just like complaining about it.
9 The Difference A Game Makes
Oblivion was a revelation upon release, especially for console gamers who received a fairly faithful and well-performing port of the massive PC RPG. However, the Khajiit look a little funky in the 2006 release. To be fair, they do not look perfect in Skyrim either. Perhaps the next generation hardware will finally be able to make the race look more believable whenever Elder Scrolls VI comes out.
8 Cannibalism
Some like to poke fun at Khajiit, saying they will make a nice rug. This probably hurts the Khajiit’s feelings, since they are just trying to live their life and give their wares to anyone who has the coin. The Khajiit in the above meme likes to take this joke a bit further, saying they make a better scarf. Some other Khajiit may not appreciate the jest, but at least they are taking the joke and making it their own.
7 When The Player Is Too RP
The race is known for being thieves, but this is a negative stereotype and one should not assume all Khajiit they see are ready to steal.
However, the player might take it upon themselves to pilfer the arms from NPCs when playing as a Khajiit. If the player does this, they have no right to complain when a dragon decimates them and no backup comes to assist.
6 The Next-Generation Leap
Many of the memes surrounding Khajiit use real pictures of cats to compare the two. Obviously, the PlayStation 4 version of Skyrim does not look quite so good as to make people think Khajiit are real, humanoid felines. If they did look so real, literally every player would choose them as the Dragonborn and there would be no reason to ever choose another race again.
5 Have You Ever Met A Kitten?
The person who made this meme probably never met or spent time with a kitten. If they did, they would know kittens to be one of the most ferocious and deadly baby animals of all time. They are just playing, but they cannot help but draw blood from their owners and break things around the house. Khajiit children do not appear to be quite as wild, however.
4 A Crime They Didn’t Commit
One will sometimes see a Khajiit in custody insisting they did not do whatever crime of which they are accused. This trait makes them more like cats than even the fur on the body or the whiskers on their face.
Anyone who owns a cat knows they break things and immediately run to the furthest possible distance away from the scene of the crime. It is difficult to stay mad at the cat, though.
3 When The Graphics Get Too Real
Some mods make the graphics look better than they were ever meant to be. However, none look as good as the above image. If they did, every player would spend their time in Skyrim spending all their coin at the Khajiit Caravan and trying to rub the merchant’s belly through the computer monitor. It would be unfortunate for the Khajiit, who probably just wants to be taken seriously and treated with respect.
2 Not Cool, Nords
Nords are unfriendly to outsiders. It is understandable for them to have a gripe against the Imperial Legion, but Khajiit are even more oppressed than the Nords. Especially in Skyrim, the catlike race has no proper home and are often not allowed inside towns. With this in mind, one would think they’d find common ground.
1 This Is Your Brain On Skooma
Khajiit are also negatively associated with Skooma, one of the most popular narcotics in Tamriel. It mostly makes the user extremely happy. One imagines the above image is how a Khajiit’s face looks while on the stuff. Players can indulge in the substance in the game, and encounter addicts of the substance. Khajiit are actually more resistant to the drug, which explains why they manufacture and use it more regularly.
