From Software’s upcoming title Elden Ring could potentially make an appearance next month in the form of an update on development.
According to GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb in his weekly podcast, GamesBeat Decides, From Software could reveal more information on Elden Ring at some point in March. This information allegedly comes from a “combination of sources” and that these sources have given Grubb a “reason to be confident” of more Elden Ring news before the end of next month.
If this were to be true, it would line up with a couple of other bits of news that have come out since the game’s announcement. It was recently revealed that Microsoft is reportedly planning a big gaming event in March in celebration of the company’s finalization of the ZeniMax acquisition. This event is rumored to focus on upcoming Bethesda titles and games from third-party studios.
If Elden Ring is going to rear its head at some point next month, odds are that it would be during some kind of large event, seeing as though it’s one of the most talked-about games out there at the minute. Both Sony and Nintendo have had showcases recently, and it wouldn’t be too surprising for Microsoft to follow suit.
A less concrete indication that Elden Ring may appear at some kind of Microsoft event is the news that Xbox boss Phil Spencer has actually played Elden Ring “quite a bit” and teased fans last year by saying it lives up to the hype. Phil Spencer allegedly has a very good relationship with Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki, so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume that Spencer could potentially use his sway to have Elden Ring show up at an Xbox event.
However, this is simply just conjecture. We know very little about Elden Ring since its announcement during E3 in 2019, and the game is very much still a mystery. If an Xbox event does go ahead in March, odds are that Elden Ring shows up. If not, then the long, torturous wait continues.
