EA Sports’ FIFA 21 is right around the corner, with this particular installment set to release a bit later than it has traditionally given the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and all leagues having their seasons end and resume at adjusted dates. With the fresh title out in a few days, EA has released details on its upcoming pro circuit.
Admittedly, EA’s soccer product seems to be less anticipated every year - fans have already threatened to boycott the game due to dissatisfaction - but FIFA 21 promises major changes. Aside from gameplay improvements and novel features, EA has also seemed to take a moral stance and will review ad placements in products made for children, while they’re also looking to tackle toxic behavior among players. Also, in an effort to improve status among fans, the devs won’t be offering a demo version of the game this time around so EA has more time to polish it up.
Now, EA has announced its FIFA 21 Global Series. This will introduce a new structure to the FIFA eWorld Cup as well as a revamped pre-season, also promising appearances from FIFA pros, influencers, content creators, and pro soccer players. The pre-season will kick off this month, with lots of entertainment in the works. It will begin with a two-day Twitch Rivals Preseason Invitational from October 3-5 and is set to showcase Manchester City and Argentina superstar striker Sergio Aguero, among other big soccer names, through FIFA Ultimate Team co-op and individual action.
An eLaLiga All-Star event will follow on October 5th, featuring a number of stars from Spain’s Primera Division, while the YouTube Gaming Creators Cup on October 8 will see various influencers and content creators go head to head.
The FIFA 21 Challenge will wrap the pre-season up on October 29 and will pit teams comprised of pro soccer players and FIFA against each other.
The FIFA 21 Global Series will make it possible for players from more countries to compete through regional-based tiers. Six circuits will invite verified participants from Europe, North America, South America, West Asia, East Asia, and Oceania-designated regions to play in more than 30 tournaments in which qualification for the FIFA eWorld Cup could be earned.
Players who live in the same country as their league will also have the opportunity to represent their favorite teams in the series.
The FIFA 21 Ultimate Edition and Champions Edition will launch for PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 6. The standard version will come to said devices three days later on October 9. EA Play members can play as of October 1 via early access, however.
