EA Access is coming soon to Steam, giving players the ability to get all of their favorite titles on the platform. If you’re not aware, EA Access is similar to Xbox Game Pass in that you pay a subscription fee and you get access to a variety of games and same-day play on new releases.
We don’t know exactly when it will be available, but we are promised that it will be soon. The listing on EA’s Steam page shows us that we can look forward to titles like Mirror’s Edge, Mass Effect, Spore, The Sims, and much more. Your membership will also do more than just grant you access to these incredible games—although that is pretty great in and of itself. You will also get members-only content and rewards for joining.
News broke on VG24/7 and directed us to the Steam page where all of the information now sits. In addition to having immediate access to a select variety of EA games, you will also be able to play new games for up to 10 hours, for free, before they ask you to make a purchase. That’s a decent amount of time to get to know a game before making a purchase and with franchises like Mass Effect waiting for sequels, you may want to check this out.
Gamers worried about whether trial progress will transfer over to the full game need not worry. EA is upfront about the fact that all progress you make will be in the full release version of the game, so once you make a purchase all of your progress will still be there.
EA is one of gaming’s biggest publishers, so buying a membership to its platform can make sense. You’ve probably played an EA title at some point, whether it was basically any sports game, or Plants vs. Zombies, or even Need for Speed, so you should be somewhat familiar with the quality of work that they put out. While this isn’t as big as Games Pass, it is certainly much, much cheaper and grants you access to the games that you probably really want. If you’re looking at a subscription service that really has some bang for the buck, EA Access might be the one for you.
