E3’s official Twitter account might have just revealed some big information on accident. Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 has no official zombie-themed content announced, and yet a recent E3 tweet seems to point towards an event centering on Black Ops 4’s Zombies mode.

The Tweet, which somehow has still not been taken down, teases fans with information on “what’s lurking around the corner” in the next Zombies installment. It then provides a handy link to purchase tickets to E3. Basically, E3 outed the existence of Black Ops 4 Zombies mode in order to sell tickets.

Of course, Zombies was practically a given. A Call Of Duty without Zombies would be like a Super Smash Bros game without Final Destination. Still, Treyarch and Activision probably don’t care for the reveal being delivered ahead of time by a Twitter account that isn’t even associated with the Call Of Duty brand.

As for the fans, their response was very positive. Lots of comments containing the word “hype” can be seen in the responses to the E3 tweet. Perhaps with all of the hubbub surrounding the possibility (or rather, inevitability) of a Call of Duty battle royale, the Zombies fans felt left out. Now they have something to look forward to.

IGN, which broke the news about the tweet, also includes a reminder that Treyarch will share some news about Black Ops 4 on May 17th. Perhaps the Zombie news will be shifted up to that date to accommodate this leak. If not, simple gameplay video of Zombies mode would still make for worthy E3 content.

Really, this isn’t such a bad turn of events for Black Ops 4 or the people behind it. Zombies is probably the least surprising thing that can leak about the game, and fans seem to have nothing but excitement for the news. At this point, all the headlines about the tweet are just free advertising. And who doesn’t want free advertising and hype generation leading up to E3?
